Help on first mule deer hunt!

Hey guys, i'm new to this site i joined mainly because i'm goin on my first mule deer hunt in the first of novemeber and was looking for a lil advice. i've been an avid whitetail bow hunter for the last ten years and love it. but i've decided to step up to the challenge of chasin down a muley. i live in southeast kansas in the heart of whitetail country so my hunting buddy and i have a tripped planned out to western kansas this fall. I was wondering if i could give some advice on the necessities needed for the trip, i know the obvious good glass, good boots, good range finder, anything else i'm missing! being a big whitetail hunter and knowing i'm goin in the heart of their rut, i didn't know if scents of calls such as doe in heat or rattling antlers are effective? i've also read a lot about ghillie suits and idk if that is needed. this is a on your own hunt so any advice i'm missing would be greatly appreciated. thank you.

Not sure you need the guillie suit. I've never spent any time in Kansas, but I don't think tactics there would be a lot different than other places. I assume the terraine is a little flatter so finding a good vantage point and spending a lot of time behind your glass will be essential.

There is a lot of good information on this site. Search the forums and I think you'll find what you're looking for. Best of luck and give us a full report when it's all over.

no gullie needed. you want to stay mobile with mulies. you need good camo and get to a high point to glass find where your buck lies down and stalk in. i have gotten to 4 yards on sleeping mulies in spotty sage and flat grassland.
