Henry Mountain Deer tag "LUCK"

So today my dad was shown a DWR letter from a collegue of his. It shows "SUCCESSFULL" for the rifle Henry Mountains deer tag.

The killer is that he only had 8 points. Talk about Lucky. I will keep you posted with any pics if possible.

Congrats to the lucky hunter. I mis-spoke in my post over on the "I drew a great hunt" thread. I said that my brothers room mate drew a henry's rifle tag and that he's never been deer hunting. That was almost true. It was what my brother had told me. This morning I called to confirm and got a little different story.

He has been deer hunting a couple of times. He's a novice and has only ever seen one buck while hunting but never taken one. He has put in for an LE tag twice before. This was his third attempt for an LE tag and his first time trying for the henry's. What a lucky terd he is. I think were going to have a hard time convincing him that a heavy 26" buck is not a shooter on the henry's. Nice predicament to have though.

Yeah there is a fellow up where I work that drew one of the muzzy tags for the Hernys on his very first try with no points what so ever. I just hope that he does that tag justice. He pulled a real hard to draw elk tag in wyoming and shot some little rag horn on the second day. I guess as long as he likes it.

I have some "LUCK" stories for you all...

Two years ago I convinced my Dad that in addition to putting in for elk that he should be putting in for Moose as well. So he did, gained one point and then in '07 drew out for Moose in the Utah Chalk Creek unit. He scouted hard, had some access to semi-private land and killed a 40+ inch Bull with nice 2 and 3 point fronts on the opening morning at 8:00am!!!!
Then this year I was stoked because I drew for a Archery elk tag to the La Sals that I have put in for 8 years now. Then my buddy told me that he drew out for an area he guides in near Morgan - first year he puts in - Zero Points!!! For Moose. Again, last year I asked him "why aren't you putting in for Moose???" He does and draws immediately. Another friend put in for this same area - Jacob's Creek CWMU - and has 10 points but didn't draw. Apparently this area only gives one permit per year, and my guide friend with zero points draw it! Crazy.

Last one - My hunting partner put his dad, who just moved in from California, in for LE Rifle Elk with no points, and HE DRAWS OUT TOO! NO POINTS. I keep telling these guys they should try their luck on the power ball!!! Unbelievable!

Bowtech I've been putting in for rocky mountain goat for 11 years now. Maybe if you PM me and suggest that I try a moose tag for the first time i'll be able to take a one year reprieve from goat, draw a moose tag, and then return to the unsuccessful letters after hanging a moose on the wall.

Sounds like you're a good luck charm come application time.

Okay, this is BS. So my dad just called me and said that the same guy just came into his office and told my dad that his wife had drawn a Uintahs Moose tag as well. She had 2 freaking points. Some people just have all the luck. (And don't you guys bring up my expo tag last year either lol ) So he drew a Henrys Rifle Deer and His wife drew Moose.

So he is obviously going to turn in the Henry Deer tag so they can concentrate on moose, right? :-k
