Hornandy bullets

I am asking the same question with the Hornady bullets as I did with the Sierra. What do you guys think about these bullets, out of a 300win mag.

Hornady is a very good bullet maker. I don't know what you are hunting but the InterBond is a great deer/elk bullet.

Hornaday bullets I have found do not shoot as accuratly as the Sierras. I haven't used either on game so can't help there. A lot of people will use the Sierra for load development then switch to Nosler as the Partition holds up well on game animals. Good luck and have fun.

Hornady INTERBONDS 165 OR 180 30 CALIBLER

These are the best constructed bullets for the money as you 100 bullets for the price you may pay for 25-50 with other manufactuers. 3 Years ago I went strictly to Hornady Interbonds in my 270 for big game the first year I reloaded them with fed primers IMR 4350 and Interbond 130 gr I went to 3 states killed 6 deer(2 bucks, 4 does) 3 antelope and 1 elk EVERY SINGLE ANIMAL DROPPED WITH ONE SHOT the bullet performed OUTSTANDING and held over 90% of its weight.

Although shot placement is critical to success Hornady intebonds are awesome I strictly use these for all big game hunting now.

As far as accuracy well so many factors are involved from primers to powder to seating depth an d just plain simple some rifles shoot certain bullets best you will just have to experment . I have had good performance and the range out to 300 yards with the I.B .

Nosler accubonds and Partitions are still pretty good bullets Barnes Triple shocks are GREAT but cost a lot for 50 bullets.

In my opinion Barnes X and Triple shocks are also a great choice but with Hornady giving 100 bullets in their packaging its a easy choice when you consider the performance.

if its between hornady and sierra, ill go with sierra. Really well made, and never a problem with them. I have a 300 win mag and shoot 167 grain match bullets to reel in my rifle. Work great. 10sign:

I've used Hornady bullets for a long time, the old spire pints and now the inter-locks. I have thought about trying the interbond but when I look at the price and the past preformance I've had with their bullets, I simply can't justify changeing! Actually the only bullets I can recall ever shooting game with are Speer, Sierra, Hornady and, a blast from the past, Herter's! In each case when a proper bullet for the cartridge was chosen, the results were predictable. When an improper bullet was chosen, results became sketchy. Also in each case more than adequate hunting accuracy could be achieved. I don't know that I've ever had a well chosen bulet fail me. I have had a poorly chosen bullet fail.

I like Hornady. They work!

Hornaby's are good bullets, i shoot 150's out of my 308. browning BLR and they're on the money and knock down alot of game. One thing i find is that they tumble alot, once in they dont come out, i think the reason being they dont shroom evenly, and then they strike something and they play pinball inside, they're also lighter bullets.

I like noslers and barnes bullets alot aswell, but they have different purposes.

And if ur looking to get a lever action buy a Browning BLR they shoot with extreme acurracy and they have a clip instead of a tube so u dont need to use tube ammo, u can use what ever u want. Really handy.

I thought about them for a target bullet in a long range rifle. But I don't like those plastic tips on anything other than a target bullet or a varmit bullet. I ended up using the 140gr SMK 6.5 bullet.

Hornady makes great bullets. I handload with both Hornady Interbonds and Nosler Accubonds. I have found that on my 30/06, the seating depth makes a huge difference with the Hornady. I get better groups with the Noslers, but I think the Hornady is a better bullet. CJ

I once had a 300 Weatherby Mark V that didn't like the Sierra's, but would stack 180 Interlocks into 3/4
inch . With that said the Sierra boatails will tend to group a little tighter in more rifles. The hornady's have a longer parallel section that seem to help freebored chambers like the Weatherby's have. My current #1 big game rifle is on a diet of Nosler accubonds, but do to their cost I will be experimenting with the 7mm 160 Sierra's soon. I have had great success with Sierra bullets as far as accuracy goes. I have shot nothing other than coyotes and deer with them so I don't have personal experience on elk/bear/moose with them.

i hate to say this but i lost my faith in hornady. i hope the interbond bullets hold up to all the hipe that is out there for them. i lost a med, size 3by 4 mule deer last season to a 165 sst factory load out of my 300 win mag. i aimed for a lung shot at 265 yards abd smacked him in the shoulder. he picked up his front left and spun a circle twice and took off down the mountain. iwould have thought that outta a 300. i would have broke both shoulders, however i was dumbfounded that he didnt drop in his tracks. several minutes later i herd several shots down the mountain, figured some one else stopped him. when my son and i walked down to the truck, a friend of his and his grandpa saw our truck and figured we were doin the shootin, they saw the buck comimg off the mtn, and jumped out to get a shot didnt make contact with him,and watched him disapear, down the drainage. we talked and they too were shocked a 300 didnt flatten him with a shoulder shot. i have had good luck w/ 140 gr out of my 270. hand loads w/ 140 sp. hornady bullets i guess the rest of the sst rounds will get used for target practice and ill stick to a non plactic tipped bullet.

The only experience I have so far with Hornady ammo has been at the range in the past couple weeks. At 100 yards, I'm getting a 1" 5 shot group with a 150 grain Interbonds out of my 30-06. I think I've found the pill of choice for my deer hunts this fall.

The only ammo I've used to take a deer was a 165 grain Federal Fusion. It performed well on the deer but the Interbond seems more accurate in my gun.

Hornady bullets are my favorite in my varmint and stadard cartridge guns. For big game in the .243 Win, .25-06 Rem, .260 Rem, .270 Win, .308 Win, and .30-06 Spfld, I like the Hornady Interlok bullets a lot. I have used them at higher velocities but they do some major damage. I like to keep them under 3000 fps. When I grab the magnums, I prefer stouter bullets. My favorite is the Swift Scirocco. I push it 3350 fps in my custom .300 Wby and have taken deer from 10 yards out to a few hundred and it performs superbly.

I just read about the guy that used the 165gr SST out of his 300 mag and had one get away at 265yds. I think that if your going to use that light a bullet at magnum velocities, you really need to think some type premium bullet. Add to the velocity that plastic tip and I think it's a formular for disaster. When the bullet hits, that tip has to go somewhere and the only place it can go is back into the bullet. Seem's I recall that that tip does not rest on the lead core in any bullet that uses them. Instead it get's a bit of a jump ta the core. when that happens, expansion has to be more violent. End result, just as was told. Now had that bullet been a 180gr SST I would guess it would have turned out different.

Tuff time findung fault with Hornady when I think an improper bullet was used.
