How do you clean your Taxidermy mounts?

I have an Antelope mount that is a little dusty that I would like to clean, but with as delicate as there hair is I don't want to whipe it down with a cloth, and I don't dare blow it off.

Just wondering what you guys do to clean of your mounts and more presicely your antelope mounts?

thanks.

What I use is one of those static dusters. It seems to pull the dust right off and out of the hair pretty good so that you don't have to rub the mount at all. We usually dust it about once a month and it hasn't been damaged at all over the past 5 years. Hope it helps.

I am not at all familiar with antelope, but I've has great luck with the waterless pet/horse sprays on deer/elk/bobcat and the like. Follow individual directions, but basically you spray on, let dry and brush off. I had several mounts in storage for a couple a years and when I brought them out I did this and they came out great! Also, on your antlered mounts its a good idea to wipe the antlers with old english oil once a year (again never done this on antelope). This brings back out the luster and keeps them from drying out. Use the regular varity, nothing fancy.

Thanks for the replys. This brings up another question, what do you do to Antelope Horns to clean them or get them shining again.

i use wd-40 ,,,,,it keeps the horns from cracking and leaves a semi shine. just wipe the dust off first.

My taxidermist told me to spray pledge or windex on the mount and then wipe it off..
Personally I cannot see chemicals being good for the long term mount.
He said he actually takes the capes to the car wash and pressure washes them before tanning. He said they will take alot of abuse.

As much as I pay for the taxidermy work I would really hate to ruin them
I just use a duster and gently dust them off. or a air can
