Just got back from the Hunt Expo in Salt Lake City, Utah
How many of you guys went to the show??
So my OVERALL impression of the show was actually VERY GOOD!!
I was REALLY impressed with how smooth it all seemed to run and how well it was all put together. I had read online and was somewhat discouraged by what I read...(mostly negative comments)
I'd say the show was SWEET! I was amazed at how COOL everyones booths looked and mesmerized by all the cool taxidermy and big game mounts.
Fantastic job to all who where involved! I thought it was a huge success overall and this will probably spring board to even better in the coming years.
I tried to take TONS of pictures for those of YOU, who couldn't make the show and hopefully this will give you a taste of what happened.
I applied for 9 different tags and have my brothers apply for a couple and my dad for a few also.
Wandering around for several hours on Saturday, which was of course the busiest day.
Tons of guides/outiftters, amazing mounts of all kinds, amazing artists, painters, sculptures, jewelry, clothing, videos, etc.
The only thing that would have been funner was to have more smaller contests for prizes or shooting contests etc.
Mossback and MuleyCrazy had amazing displays etc. etc. etc.
Hope you enjoy and thanks for looking!
Let me know if you want to see more pics after these.

Tomorrow we will find out who the lucky ones are. xcrossx
Were you helping with the Sportsmans booth? Sounds like you spent some good time there, what was your overall impression?
Yep, some lucky people will be very happy tomorrow. I'd take the Kings 4-wheeler also if they don't want to give me a tag. :)
I was told they will announce/post them on the website tomorrow.

The show over all I thought was very good. The isles were wider making it easier to walk and view the booths even on saturday, the south town expo center gets more crowded. They had it set up very nicely with alot of great mounts, the occasional mount in the middle of the isle was a nice touch-you could view them up close. It was nice to see the quick taxidermy work on all of 2006's animals so they could be viewed at the show.
The results for the lottery tags will be posted on the expo site tomorrow.
The Governors tag for elk brought about 100k and the San Juan and Pahvant both brought high dosages as well.
The Banquet season is just getting ready to warm up so it ill be intersting to see what some of these tags will go fr this year after such a great year in 2006.
It was great knowing that the money being rasied at this expo is going to wildlife management and improvement.
It was one of the better displays of animals at a show I have seen.
I would agree on the having more "smaller contests" maybe an archery shoot ( although I know those take alor of work to get put together successfully, especially if you were to do it on that scale). Maybe even some small raffles, I think that some of the drawings may have seemed out of reach for some that don't have alot of money to spend on that stuff. But, I also understand that they are trying to raise money and this expo was meant to be "big". Small raffles with only a small or certain amount of tickets offered I think would be good for people.
I did win some free concert tickets using my expert casting skills with a fishing pole, I already had great tickets so i gave them to a guy I talked earlier in the show that was wanting to take his son.
Overall it was a fun weekend and a great boost for wildlife and sportsman.
Lets look forward to the next oneand until then do what we can to get involved! =D>
I thought the show was great! I was very impressed with the whole show!
I just checked the website, but i didnt draw any of the permits... ](*,)
I guess there's always next year!

Here are some more pics from the expo...
We didn't realize that the expo only went until 7pm on Friday, so we got there about 15 minutes before it closed up shop.
Ann's Pros: 1.) We didn't have to pay to get in 2.) There weren't as many people there that didn't have to do with hunting (i.e. Timeshare people, etc...) 3.) Focused more on hunting, not so much on everything else.
Ann's Cons: 1.) Hours weren't long enough for the weekend. 2.) Too many of the same people I see at every expo
Harlan's Pros: 1.) Great artwork, and sculptures. 2.)Muley Crazy's booth 3.) Uh...I can't think of anything else....
Harlan's Cons: 1.) Hours weren't long enough. 2.) n' stuff
