Hunting Rig Update

Well folks fortune just smile on me and as I found what I was looking for. I just got a '87 Jeep Cherokee for dirt cheap! It will take a little work but I've got some plans for it! already working on the lift and wheels and tires. I will get a picture up once I finish with those. It still runs well and transmission is strong so hopefully I can run them as is for a while.

Nice score! Not sure if the pic will work but here's mine I picked up a couple months ago 79 blazer with rocksliders all the way around 4" lift and 35 inch military mud terrain she's got a stroker motor and brand new trans with dodge 1 ton axles and lockers in the rear its a blast oh and the flat green paint is actual hummer h1 paint off a military base I was lookin for a jeep when i found this already built for 2500 bucks and it runs like a banchee.

Best thing about buying a Jeep is the amount of aftermarket out there for them. Would love to see the pics when you get the lift and wheels/tires!

Looking good! :thumb

If you dont mind me asking, what you end up paying after all was said and done?

What kind of gas mileage you get after the lift and tires?

Archer11 after sales tax registration lift tires and the stuff for me to do the liner myself i have just over 5 grand into this. The sales tax where I am at ended up being over $500 just for the sale!
As far as fuel milage and loss of power i will let you know after i put a tank through it. They should be minimal though since I only put 31" tires on it. It is when you bump up to 33" or larger that you see drastic changes and need to "regear" or swap axles.

No rubbing issues? do you have any pics of it flexing? I love how those Cherokees have enormous amounts of travel with little lift needed.

From what I can find to put it through here in NC there are no rubbing issues. Of course there is no slick rock to test it on! lol I will try and get a picture of it flexing one of these days.

Well I got the fender flares torn off and am reading up on the best method to cut and roll the metal. I did end up with some rubbing but not too bad.
I have also begun building a safari rack for it. I will try and get some pictures of that process if you all are interested.

Here is the progress on the roof rack so far... I have a total of $90 into it with all materials including welding rods and a new angle grinder.
