I am addicted

Went on my first duck hunt this afternoon and had a blast. Got off work an hour early and went out with a co-worker to a not very well known pond. All in all we took 7 birds, and the best part of it all is it's 10 minutes from my house. Needless to say now I am addicted.

Whenever you want 9er.

I just cooked up some duck nuggets and they have to be some of the most tasty treats I have had in a while. Cooked up 2 breasts with intent on having dinner tonight as well as lunch tomorrow, but alass they are all gone.......

lol I don't think it is very hard for anyone of us on this site to become addicted to hunting anything. Congrats on the birds though they are a blast to hunt!

I guess technically they are called "fried duck bites". It's a recipe I found on the net last night and decided to try it. Pretty darned good.

Fried Duck Bites

~ duck breast(s)
~ A1 steak sauce
~ flour
~ salt and pepper
~ oil

Soak breast(s) in salt water for 15 - 20 minutes.

Remove from salt water and cut into bite size pieces.

Pour steak sauce into a small bowl. Dip meat into the sauce and coat evenly.

Roll in flour. Salt and pepper to taste.

Heat a little oil in a skillet.

Add duck pieces and fry until golden brown or until done. Drain on paper towels.

Serve and Enjoy!

Duck 'nuggets' are the only way I can stand to eat them. I wish they tasted better. :)

It's a good thing others in my family like to eat em. I love to hunt em, but they sure taste terrible. Same with Goose, Yuck.

Well, fellers' since I hail from the duck capital of the world let tell you how I like them cooked. I cut the breast meat into thin strips going across the grain. Then I whip me up some eggs to dip them in and the flour them up. Salt and pepper liberaly and deep fry them. They be good! :thumb

Had a customer tell me today not to freeze it. He said it made the meat taste bad.... Never heard that before. Anyone notice any big difference between thawed vs fresh?

I think it depends on how you package it before you freeze it.... I have great results with my foodsaver... I freeze lots of chukars and grouse. oh and lots of fish too. they thaw out great and taste very fresh

My customer must have been cracking smoke. I thawed out a couple of breasts and marinated them for a few days and cooked them up and they tasted great. I'd say even better than fresh because they had been marinating for a few days.

Ready to go out and put some more in the freezer!
