Hey my friends! To start, I sure have missed the site over these last 9 months or so!
Just to let everyone know what I have been up to.....
About 9 months ago, simply on a whim, I applied for a job that I really wasn't even remotely qualified for. Well, what do you know....they hired me! They said that my military background and proven leadership abilities was all they needed! Well, I am now a Team Lead with a consulation firm out of Boston. I lead a team that does Social Security Disability advocacy for disabled foster children. I still live here in Clarkston, WA since all of the disability advocacy work is done from their branch office here in the Valley. Needless to say, I had a STEEP learning curve and very little time to learn it all. After all, I cannot lead if I have no idea what I am leading my team in to, right?
To make a long story short, I devoted a HUGE chunk of my time to learning the ropes at work and now am comfortable enough in my shoes that I can relax....just a bit! I even (GASP) gave up my entire hunting season last fall. I ate two deer tags, an elk tag, a bear tag, and a cougar tag so that I could concentrate on work. I'll most certainly be out there THIS YEAR though!
On top of that, my youngest son has become quite the wrestler (Most of you saw my posts when he first started). Over the last two years he has compiled a record of 80-20 and is really starting to excel. There are still a few kids that give him fits but he's quickly catching up to those kids too. He's only 8 so he's got plenty of time to get to those select kids' level...LOL. (OF course, my MAIN goal is for him to learn humility, sportsmanship, build character, and learn....not win medals. These have been and always will be the main purpose behind his taking up this sport. He will learn to lose with humility and respect ANYONE, boy or girl, who takes up this sport!)
Because of his interest in wrestling, we have spent a LOT of time driving between tournaments, practices, etc. Not to mention, I am also a board member on the Hells Canyon Wrestling Club and assist at practices. I wouldn't have it any other way though!
Anyway guys and gals....I apologize for neglecting my duties here at Muleymadness but I am back! You can count on me to visit much more regularly from this point on.

i've been wondering how your boy is doing at his wrestling, my boy is 3 now and i'm wondering if it's time to get him started( his sister would say yes FOR SURE!)
hope you can stick around, but hey, life gets in the way sometimes. great to hear from you
Here's a pic of my little man sticking it to his opponent at a tournament in Royal City Washington two weekends ago.
i haven't even ever looked at my post count until you brought it up- kinda makes me want to take a break for a while lol
so how young can you start a kid into mat club? my boy is 3 and REALLY needs to expend some energy lol
Brian, it varies slightly from state to state. Here in WA you cannot wrestle in a tournament until you have turned 5 while in ID it's 4 years old (At least that's the way it is in our E WA League and N ID League). HOWEVER, this does not stop a youngster from coming to practice and getting a head start on the competition. Of course, this would be a club decision, due to insurance issues. You should check with your local club and see what they say or already have in place. What may end up happening is that you will have to pay the club fees as if your son was actually going to wrestle...he just couldn't actually partake in any tournaments until he's old enough.
We have a few youngesters (Younger brothers of club members) that come up and have fun on the wrestling loft with us. They are too young to actually wrestle but they already know more than most kids thier age.
lol
Glad to see you back!
