Idaho hunters

Hey Idaho hunters, which areas do you guys hunt when you dont draw controlled hunts? It seems tougher and tougher to find areas that aren't crawling with people during general season. My experience is that even areas that are remote get lots of pressure from the people trying to get away from road hunters and 4 wheelers...

ps... I'm new to the forum but really enjoy it so far. Its cool to have so many people from the west on here...

Check out the Sublette hunt. It used to be draw only for anything bigger then a 2 point, but a couple years ago they made it a general season hunt. If you are willing to get away from the beaten path and do some walking there are still some big boys to be found.

Even though there are a lot of hunters in Unit 39 there is a lot of country. So when I don't draw I typically hunt in that unit. If I don't shoot anything with my rifle during the general season I hunt Unit 39 during the late archery hunt. I have seen some monster bucks during the late season. I just haven't been fortunate enough to stick one of them yet. I am starting to explore new territory though just to get away from all the madness in Unit 39. Hopefully I won't have to worry about that this year if i draw! I'm keeping my fingers crossed! Good luck!

I used to work for the Forest Service in Burley and worked in that sublette area quite a bit. I have heard there were some nice bucks there. I dont doubt it.

I've never hunted unit 39. I know there are tons of people that hunt it because its so close to Boise. That late hunt does sound like a good one though...

Units 59 and 59A have some decent bucks, I grew up hunting unit 56 (sublette) it is not as good as it used to be, going general season ruined it fast.
