Hello guys,
I am taking my farther inlaw deer hunting this year. He lives in Boise and I was going to take him to unit 39.
I hunt up north and pack in for a few days, he is not up for that. He can hike about a mile and is just looking for a buck, fork or bigger just wants to put some meat in the freezer. I have no Idea where to start any help will be great.

I live in Boise. Its true all the foothills around boise get hammered. If you can only road hunt i would wait until the last few days of the season oct 29-31. Drive towards Atlanta along arrowrock resevoir. Theres lots of deer, they usually stay a mile or so from the road. There lots of old closed logging roads. Take a walk. There always a few BandC contenders that come out of unit 39. Lots of hunters, but lots of deer. Fish and game counted 25,000 deer wintering in the hills around boise,,, yes thats correct 25,000. I'm sure you can find forkie or better, if you don't mind the crowds.
Thanks
