Idaho Unit 43

Has anyone else been displaced from the fire in 43, I know stupid question. Looking for elk, went out opening weekend saw some bucks, one beauty. No elk, i mean no sign. Went up off James Creek below the burn and found squat.

Anyone care to help me out and point me in the right direction, please? i was thinking up Lester Creek to the NW?
