Idaho Wolf Kill

Here is a picture of a wolf I killed this weekend while elk and deer hunting with friends out of the Weiser/McCall unit. My friend killed a 6x7 elk the first day and I killed a 4x4 mule deer and a wolf the second. The group picture is too large for this site but here is a picture of the wolf. His coat is actually better than the picture would suggest as I had to cross a river with him.

Congrats, killing an Idaho wolf is actually on my short list of things to do. Any tips on how to get them that you want to share?---shooter

Wow, that's awesome and sure does look big. Can you shrink the other photos down, sure like to see them also. How much did the wolf weigh?

I have a picture of all three animals together and it shows just how nice the wolf is but even compressed it is too large. If anyone knows of a way to compress it even smaller I will post it. As far as tips I'm definetly not a wolf expert. I was searching for a larger mulie we had seen earlier for a friend that still had a deer tag along a river bank when I saw the wolf. he was by his self. When he saw me he bolted up a hill and gave me a shot at about 75 yards. There is alot of wolf sign at the higher elevations. I think we just got lucky with the colder weather coming in two days before the hunt. If I could get another tag I would go back to the same spot. I am certain he was apart of a pack so others are sure to be close by. Also it's interesting that I shot him around 3:30 pm. I'm not sure if this helps. Fish and game inspected him and said he was the largest they had inspected all year. He only weighed 105lbs three days after I shot him. Alive we are guessing he was about 120lbs. There are alot of people who throw out outrageous weights for wolves but after carrying this dude it's hard to fathom.
