Is a 340+ bull to much to ask?

My friend is trying to draw a rifle tag for a premium area. He is not having alot of luck. He talked to a couple of outfitters after he drew no tags. They couldnt promise an opertunity at that size bull.
I realize that 340 is pretty big. Is he expecting too much?

What state and area is your buddy been putting in for? I would be glad that the outfitters were honest enough to tell you up front that they don't have that size of animal in there hunting area. Keep looking you will find what you are looking for.

I agree. Too many outfitters out there who will say/promise anything just to make a buck.

A 340+ bull is a lot to ask for...at least as far as a "promise" goes IMO. Sure, there are areas in which the opportunities might be greater...but to look for some kind of assurance might be a bit much.

The only place that they can truely promise a bull that size would be in a high fence operation, there is a big one in colorado also In canada. Thats not away to hunt , (http://www.laredohuntclub.com/index.html)thats just a way to buy a bull though. Another good place to look is through a guy named Allen (www.landowner-tags-vouchers.com/ ) he has some great oppertunities for you.

Hes not looking for any kind of promise. I guess its more do you have bulls this size in the area or on the ranch.

I guess what i am asking, is there areas that you could expect to "see" this size of animal.

I am going to Colorado on the 29th with an OTC Elk tag. It'll be a regular circus there with unlimited tags and all the road hunters. But I will see a 340 or better bull for sure. He will be on a private ranch that you and I can't hunt and they won't move off it. And no one will bother them. So yes I will see a slammer! But if I'm real lucky I'll shoot a raghorn and be a grateful man! :thumb
