According to the ethics course, although rare, they occasionally start dropping in December. It said that weather, forage, lenght of daylight, and other conditions are factors in determining when they start dropping. I don't remember which thread it was in but I did read a post where someone had found their first shed in Utah already.

I have some friends that have been picking up moose sheds, havent heard of any deer yet .
A few years ago I was picking up fresh deer sheds the end of Jan. But now I usually wait till Mid Feb for more bucks drop in one area so im not pushing them all over.
I ve been out a few times just riding my horse checking to see where they are wintering. Hopefully go out this weekend and find some..

Here in Washington State after a very cold spell, my brother-in-law shot what he thought was a doe on Dec. 30th and low and behold it had nobs.

I thought the bigger bucks/bulls droped first..?? Ive seen small bucks that were still packing in March last year when all the rest had droped.
Guess I better start scouting more..

I watched two bucks last night. One was a way small two point (coulda used to the horns as forks for my next meal) and the other was a bigger 3 point, both deer were missin a side, i kept watchin and the 3 point dropped the other horn, rubbin it on a tree!!!

I am finding 90% of bucks still holding. Watched bucks sparing today and thought they would pop off but nothing. Look firm to me. I have seen very few bucks without.
