No doubt there's some big bucks, just not a zone that you hear about alot. Wondering if you've hunted it before, or first time?--------SS

if it is a deer tag congrats. I think it is a sleeper unit for big bucks!!!!

I'm with shooter on this one. While there are some nice deer on the oak creek unit they are few and far between. Having that many points I think that there was a great chance at getting a paunsaguant any weapon tag which in my opinion would be a much better tag.

Congrats on the tag and I hope that you have a hunt of a life time. Was just wondering why you would pick that unit with that many points.

I put in for it on my first choice this year and didn't draw. There are some really nice bucks in that area. I seen some helping my Dad on his Cow Tag. Even seen a busted up 360 Bull on that unit. Muley Crazy said in the issue before last that some nice bucks are starting to come out of there. It can be a tough hunt for sure though.

There are some sweet bucks on that unit....just be ready to hike. My taxidermist hunted that unit last year and got a big buck off there. Heavy horned 5x7. Then I also have a buddy who has guided a lot of hunts down there and always gets decent bucks. I know that 2 years ago he guided a guy to a 35 inch bruiser. So best of luck and enjoy your hunt!!

Have heard through the grapevine that this was a sleeper unit. Tried it the last two years and didn't get drawn. I guess for a non-resident it actually takes 11pts. I didn't think I would ever get drawn for the paunsaguant.
I just busted my shoulder up so I probably won't be able to do any pre-season scouting at all. I'm having to use time up for the shoulder.

I also got drawn for a muzzle tag mule deer in Colorado unit 67. (took 5pts)

Looks like I'm gonna be scouting and hunting at the same time.
