Hope they do good this year!------but oh ya, forgot to mention, I"M A YANKEE FAN!!! well, just cause i finally had to bail on the mariners. just sooooo bad for soooooo long. but i do hope they get better!

Well, Junior just hit his 400th home run as a Mariner! Boy, I also hope this continues (The winning that is. I don't expect Griff to hit home runs every game...LOL)

did he hit one tonight? =D> =D> you know, and this is a dead horse being beat to death, if that guy woulda stayed healthy....... there would be NO steriod scandle to be talked about. he would be way ahead of bonds! and now, i'm afraid i hate to say this[ my other "used-to-be" favorite player] even a-rod wont be able to say he did it the right way :>/ in a perfect world, griffey and a-rod would have stayed mariners. both staying clean, and the mariners would have a couple rings now. and i wouldn't have to say i like the yankees.but wouldn't it be awsome if they made a run with griffey back home? i'm rooting on them!

My wifes a Yankees/Jeeter fan. No, not I heck, I have a hard time watching any AL team. I will give the spankees credit for Signing Sabathia. That mans a ball player.

And to give credit were it is due. Seattle is smokin, The best record so far and the lowest payroll. Sats a lot for the club house.

Off my soap box and on to the bleachers,,,go cubbies

you know after a while with the yankees you just had to say "if you cant beat them-join them".
now there motto is"if we cant win it, we'll buy it" lol i dont know i pretty much was an A-rod fan, deffinatly a jeter fan and they are an allstar put together team. but anymore A-rod is/was a cheater. they prove over and over that to win you must be a team and not a bunch of all-stars. and if griffey and the mariners play this way all year, at the end of the season when they meet in the playoffs I will put the mariners cap on!

I used to follow the Mariners back in the 90's when I lived in Everett. Randy Johnson, Tino Martinez, A-Rod, JR, Jay Bruner(sp?), the other Martinez and some little squirrelly guy at 2nd base, I believe.

Once they started trading everyone I gave up on them. First to go was Tino, then the Big Unit and wouldn't pay A-Rod what he was worth after his rookie contract was up. JR said if you don't want to put together a team that can compete I'm outta here, too.

Bad juju all around. But I was surprised to see he went back and really wish him the best. I've still got his rookie card plus a signed baseball of his.

ABert, that "other Martinez" was Edgar Martinez, one of the greatest hitters of his day, two time batting champion, Lifetime batting average around .315, and still an icon here in Washington. The "squirrelly second baseman" was Joey Cora, now the bench coach of the Chicago White Sox.

As for folks leaving...A-rod was unsignable when Texas offers $250 million dollars, the big unit tanked the season and forced a trade (0-6 with the M's and then turned around and went something like 10-1 with the Astros after the trade went down), and Griffey was pissed because Safeco park was a pitchers park, not a hitters park. He even said so on numerous occassions. Cincinnati offered him good money, he was originally from Cinci, and his dad played for the Big Red Machine so he took the offer.
Just thought I would throw that out there. The M's didn't just up and trade all the talent. The "big three" (A-Rod, Griff, and the Unit) left for various reasons. The only one that was actually traded was Randy Johnson...and again, he forced it. Remember too, they only made ONE play-off appearance with all three on the team. The tied the Major League record for wins in a season with NONE of them on the rostor.

FYI: I also have his rookie card, autographed, with an autographed baseball. A buddy gave them to me as a gift after I was the best man at his wedding. (He divorced a year and a half later so I think I got the better end of that deal)
