For all of you asking about the location of these elk you will never be able to hunt there. That was taken on 900 square miles of government land. They are on the Hanford reservtion in Washington.

I have the same picture on my email that a buddy who works at Hanford sent me.

you know its ironic that everyone seems to claim that this is in a different location. All I know is that a friend of mine "claimed" to have taken this photo this summer. It was on public land in Utah not Washington.

You are all wrong. I took this pic in my back yard! Do you also believe in the tooth fairy? If you do I'll let you hunt them for 10 grand a hunt.

Acually, I think Benny here is correct about the Hanford Nuclear Reservation in Washington. If you look up Ghostowns.com, you'll see the same ridge that is in the backround of this pic. You never know, since the place is shut down because of radiation that is harmful to humans, maybe grows freakishly large elk. Even ones with non-typical "gourds" growing on the rack like the bull in the middle-front.

WOW! I also do not care where it was taken, WOW!

Hi, I am just an elk lover. I don't hunt. I live in Utah and when I first saw the photo I thought "Utah" before I even read the comments. I didn't know there were any places in Washington that look like that kind of terrain. But I don't know everything. All I can say is it is a very cool picture. I know Utah has a lot of elk. I saw two huge bulls once with huge racks walking right along the side of the road in my little po-dunk town, Tooele. They were magnificent. Anyhow, great photo!! No matter where it is or where it came from.

I sure hope these aren't some penned up, farmed type animals, that all the owners wants them for is their antlers. It looks fishy! Kind of like the swimmin hole photo. In all my years I have never seen that many big bulls together that late in the year-- unless they were penned up.

Actually it is quite common to see groups of bull like this or even larger in Utah on Deseret land and livestock land which boarders a lot of public highway.

Yea this looks like hanford, I live about 20 miles away and know that territory very well, The ridge in the backgroun is Rattlesnake ridge. I have hunted that ridge the elk come over to that ridge the first part of the season after the first gun shot they are back on the res. contrarty to pop. belife you can hunt the res. One tag is given. The nuber on bull in Washington "Brutus" was taken there. Sorry all you Utah fans

I drew a Tag for all of them!! You guys are nuts if you think these Elk would be together during a hunting season.

I saw a group of bulls like that here in Mt. this past summer, about May or so. they weren't as developed but they were together, and the bulls in that area will grow very large, and it is huntable land!!

I CAN VOUCH THAT THIS PIC WAS TAKEN IN HANFORD. HANFORD HOLDS THE LARGEST ROCKY MTN ELK HERD IN WASHINGTON. THEY HAVE EVEN RESORTED TO CAPTURING HUNDREDS OF ELK AND SHIPPING THEM ACROSS THE UNITED STATES TO REDUCE THIER NUMBERS AND START NEW HERDS, LIKE WISCONSIN FOR ONE AND OTHER MIDWEST STATES. I GO DOWN TO THIS AREA ALL THE TIME AND THIS IS JUST A VERY SMALL PORTION OF THE ELK THAT CAN BE SEEN.

Well, I think that you are all crazy. I have seen elk like this "Bachelor pod" early before bow season in Oregon before the rut starts. I even watched a few bulls spar for a half an hour from about 200 yards. But, it looks like the reservation in Washington. Nice pic!!
