Late Season New Mexico Unit 2B

Hello all.

Couple buddies and I were fortunate enough to draw late season archery tags in New Mexico's unit 2b (Jan 1-15). Unfortunately we live to far away to make a trip to do any scouting, so any info on this area and what to expect would be appreciated.

Thanks
Nate.

Cold hunt dress appropriately......bring chains as the mud and snow can get rough......bring good optics.....glass sage flats.......if snow on the ground, bring a ground blind. God luck.

You will probably see a LOT of deer. You've probably got a good chance at seeing some good bucks as well. As was mentioned, if there is snow on the ground the trick will be getting close enough to do anything about it with your bow. Good luck to you both!

I got back from 2B, my hunt was 2nd rifle, only saw does, fawns, and small bucks. So w/that I can't give you much advice on were to hunt, but the best piece of advice I can give you is to bring a bicycle, not sure if it will be usable in Jan but if you can it will save you so much time instead of walking the closed roads. The terrain isn't to bad and it's even easier on the closed roads, just w/a bike it will make a 2 hour walk on a closed road 20-30 minutes.

Check out the New Mexico unit 2B forum on the list. A number of us posted a lot of info all throughout the September and October hunts that should help you out. Awesome unit. Good luck!
