Long range scope for 6.5-284?

I have a 6.5-284 on order and i cant decide what scope would best fit my needs. I know I need a scope with plenty of elevation adjustment because i would like to target shoot with it out to 1000 yards, however i need a scope with a descent zoom range because i plan to hunt with it. I plan to keep budget below $1000 I have looked at the burris xtr a little but i havent talked to anyone who has used one. Or would anyone recomend any other scopes?

PS i have drawn for the henrys this year and was wondering if anyone has had any experience with the 6.5 140 gr. berger vlds on deer? I dont wanna wound one!

Take a look at the Millet LRS 1 scope and if you can find any Barnes TSX or Tipped TSX that would be the round to go with :thumb

I was a sniper/observer on our SWAT team for 9 years. We used Leupold 3.5x10 scopes with great success. If anything ever happened, which was very very rare, Leupold corrected it and made it right immediately! No questions asked, and these rifles saw a lot of use and abuse.

I purchased a 4.5x14 scope for my son's rifle, and I really like it. This scope with long range turrets, and possible their mil-dot set-up or a custom reticle would be fantastic. I personally used the 3.5x10x40 mm scopes at night and day, and I never felt like I needed a bigger objective lense. I don't imagine you will be doing much hunting, especially long range hunting at night.

Night Force scopes seem to be pretty darn good and have an excellent reputation as well. Zeiss and Swarovski are also excellent products. I do not believe you could go wrong with any of them.

All's I can say is "HUSKEMAW " !! I bought one 2 years ago and they are everything they say they are and more . I dialed it in to 800 yards and had the best of the west make me 2 turrets ! The 7000' elevation worked flawless out to 1100 yds. on soccer ball sized rocks . Back here in PA. I dumped a doe with a witness looking thru my spotting scope with one shot at 825 yds. The thing works along with the wind notches !
