CONGRATS!!
A huge thanks to CVRN. I had previously scouted this particular area a few times and then he was very helpful in sharing what he knew and encouraging me along the way. To top it all off he takes a day off work to hike 1 1/2 hours through the snow and then packs the most back uphill. There really arn't many guys around like him. Thanks.
SW, also stopped his hunt to help complete strangers pack out a moose. I can't say thanks enough to these guys for their help. There were a couple other guys who don't visit this site, but were also very supportive in my search for a good bull.
I had waited 20 years to get a moose tag and had desired to shoot a bull with my 2 young boys at my side. I knew that would be a real handicap and that I would have to lower my expectations, but I thought they should be part of the hunt. I had 2 great guys offer me their treestands and areas, but I just felt that was taking to much advantage of their generousity. We hunted from I80 to US6, from I15 to Duchesene. I hunted 9 days with my boys and we had seen many moose, but I just couldn't keep them out of school, soccer games, etc any longer so I set out on my own.
I had passed on over 34 bulls before I shot this bull with my bow. It was a very tough hunt and he is much bigger than I could have ever hoped for. I know there are bulls which might score more, but I can't imagine a prettier one.
He is a 53" wide, 10 x 10 Shiras moose killed in Utah.
I only wish I had a few pictures of the 5 of us sledding the meat off the mountain. What a great time and great guys. Score doesn't mean much to me, but the memories and friendships created do. Thanks again for all the kind words.

9er- I can't stop looking at them either. It has been almost 2 weeks and he still amazes me.
Jason- It was good to meet you on the mountain in August. I did not see a single moose that day of scouting, but the country sure looked great. If you havn't filled your deer tag yet there are some good bucks right in the area where we talked, just over the hill.
By the way, this is a nice site. Not too much judging and bickering.
Here’s a crazy Moose story, one snowy day in the Wasatch my buddy and I walked up on a large bull Moose that had just killed to other bull moose. One of the bulls was already dead and the other was still alive but just by a shoe string. The bull that we saw leaving the area that we think killed these other two bulls had 13 points on each side. He's probably one of the biggest bulls I've seen in the Wasatch over 50“ wide. I' did see one bigger bull in a place in the Wasatch in a very unusual place but he had 15 points on each side. I do have a picture of this bull but it was to large to upload. He had 6-7 points on just his front brows and one of the points on each side of his front brows dropped straight down. If you want to see a picture of this bull and pictures of the bull that killed those two bull moose in the Wasatch email me at
Great job and I've love to hear more about your hunt......
Here is a picture I did upload of a large mule deer that I have been chasing for the last two years. If you know anyone thinks they know this buck please let me know. He is a Wasatch buck and I hope he is still out there for 2008. Happy hunting :222
