Monroe "Archery Elk" hunters DON'T SHOOT COWS

I've been hearing a lot people talking about the Monroe region and having the Archery Elk-hunters choice tag they think they can shoot a cow, well you definitely can't, its stated in black and white, try to get the word out you can only shoot spikes on the monroe unit and you'll be very sorry if you shoot a cow.

Here it is out of the DWR Big Game Guide Book...

If you obtain a general archery elk permit, you may use archery equipment to take one of the following animals:
One elk of either sex on a general any bull • elk unit
A cow elk or a spike bull elk on a general • spike bull elk unit
Only a spike bull on the following units: • Book Cliffs, Monroe, Paunsaugunt and Plateau Boulder

People seem to miss the exceptions or changes from year to year. Can't wait to see how many people will be hunting on the first Saturday on these new five day units that really start the following Wednesday on the rifle deer hunt. :-k
