Although I will agree that this sturgeon is a MONSTER, are ya sure it was caught on the Willamete?

This exact same photo appeared on the Boone and Crockett page, supposedly caught on the Fraser river in southern B.C. (They have some monster sturgeon up there too).

Regardless of where it was caught, IT IS BIG!!!!!

Yea, those things are huge! I caught a 4' on the Snake River this summer on a weekend trip with my brother and I thought it was a nice fish!!!!

That 4 footer was hard enough to get to the boat. I couldn't imagine catching one THAT big (I guess that's why it too so many guys and so many hours...LOL)

I talked to a Game warden once on the California delta, where the Russian and American rivers come together about the biggest the state had ever netted. He said one that went 15 feet and estimated in the 1500-2000 lb range but no pictures. I know the Columbia also has some monsters. I've tried but never caught one. I believe they are the biggest fresh water species in the world. If not, I know in North America.

i went on a guided over size sturgeon fishing trip once we landed 6 sturgeon over 8 ft. and 2 over 9 ft they { THE GUIDE} figured the biggest weighed over 400 lbs. they were the biggest fish i've ever seen. but nothing compared to this fish. the crazy thing is they would fight so much on the way in that they would tail walk on the water it was awsome

I would guess that the fish was caught in what is called the Willamette Channel. That's the river above the Falls at Oregon City. I doubt any fish would fair well going over the falls. They may have fish ladder's tho? I fished the Willamette river as a kid and other than the slew's, it wasn't worth fishing unless you were after chubs and sucker's.

I have a brother that fishes the Willemette channel quite a bit for stergon and does well.

Here it is. This MONSTER fish was caught on the Fraser river in British Columbia in 2005.

hound_hunter, we fish for 'em on the Snake and Columbia rivers up here in WA with a regular over-the-counter fishing license. However, I've never seen ANYTHING that big before.

I have a post on here somewhere of a 4' sturgeon I caught this summer on a trip with my brother but it looks like a minnow compared to that one.

As for prices for a guide service, I've never priced it before.
