Monster Golden Trout

My brother and his room mate are hard core. They just went on an eight day 70 mile backpack trip into the windriver mountain range in Wyoming. They caught some awesome Golden Trout. They lost 9 and 12 lbs on the hike. I should have went and joined DEAD I's fat man contest. I'd of lost 25 on a hike like that.

Check out the color of this spawning golden.
They caught 60 goldens over the 20" mark. I wish I could have taken eight days to go with but family and work force me to live vicariously. Thought I'd share so so of you could also share the moment. Incidentally, My brothers roomy in the double photo is the lucky SOB that drew the Hernry's tag this year with only three bonus points. I hope to post more photo's of him with a large animal come October. [-o<

Those are simply amazing photos and fish. Love the post, thanks. I have a friend that fished for them one year also. But don't think he did quite that well, 60 over 20" is crazy.

Nope. They're goldens. They were fly fishing. I believe they were using scuds.

Dead-I Golden trout are a sub species of the rainbow trout. They also known as the California Golden trout because most of their range was in California. They are considered adults when they reash 6-12 inches so over 20" is really huge!!!!

There aren't too many drainages with golden trout. 4 or 5 over twenty puts you in an elite crowd.

The purpose of my brother's trip was one golden over twenty. They hit gold figurative and literally. They have renamed the lake "Eldorado" after the city of gold.

You're all welcome. I appreciate the experiences shared by others so I try to contribute when I can. Even when it's through my brother and friend.

To all the madness members, feel free to do the same. It makes for a great site anda fun way to spend time infront of the screen.

I think you're correct Larry. Something about the fish eating insects that changes the ecology of the lake. Just another environmentalist twist to thumb their noses at sportsmen.
