MR 2230 powder

I have no data in front of me , but if memory serves me right that powder was suitable for the .223 and not for the 243. You may be able to load low velocity/light bullet combinations for plinkers. The 243 does well with much slower powders in the 4350-4831 range especially if you are going to launch 100 grain slugs. I will dig through my stuff and see what I can find for you. BTW this is the 2230 manufactured by Accurate Arms right?

I've heard of AA 2230, but not MR 2230 or IMR2230. If what you have is AA2230, then you can make some great loads for the lighter bullets for your 243. The book gives a max load of 41grns behind a 55grn bullet for a velocity of just over 3800fps. 40grns behind a 60 will get you 3700fps. Be careful if you are not sure that this is Accurate Arms powder as AA powders with the same numonics, (such as AA4350) do not have exactly the same burn rates as other brands of powder with the same numonic, (such as IMR4350) ---------shooter

AA 2230 according to Accurate Arm's website was formerly known as MR 223. Rich, is this what you have? Do you have MR-223 or MR-2230? I have no listing in my printed manuals for MR-2230.

Accurate arms does not reccomend 2230 for the 243 win.

also, no-one has submitted it as a load on reloaders nest either.

I'm not sure why? most powders I've used for 223's I've also had good luck with in 243's #-o

my burn rate chart puts it right next to win 748, which is not very popular for the 243.

Guys it is accurate arms MR2230 and I found a starting load of 36 grns but it wont take it all . (???)

Do you mean that the powder won't all fit in the case? If so, you can use a drop tube with your funnel, this will help compress the powder as you pour it into the case. ------Shooter

The max I can get in the case is 30 grns compressed.
