A friend and I are going mule deer hunting in Libby Montana next year. This trip will be a first time for both of us. Any tips anyone can give us would greatly be appreciated. We are going with a guide. We are not real familiar with mule deer, what do we look for as far as a decent size rack.
Thanks,
Sam

We are hunting in Libby Montana. Our outfitter is Elk Mountain Outfitters. I am not really familiar with the area or the outfitter. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Sam
I've been hunting mule deer for about 25 yrs. I've never been on aguided hunt and never had a game animal measured. But here's an opinion any way. First, don't worry about it, if you have a good guide, he's not going to let you shoot a fork horn opening morning. Next, there are only four sizes of rack's; small, medimun, large and extra large, if it looks big, it is. If your not sure, ask your guide, that's part of what your paying him for!
I've hunted black bears in that area year's ago, actually up in the Yaak. Great country, great scenry. Have fun, get a nice deer and enjoy the whole thing. There's alway's a bigger deer, you just may noy find it![/quote]
