You're probably looking for a resale price, so this may not help. However just in case you're not, here's a web link to my local butcher who list his processing fee's online if this helps.

I think a fare estimate for packaged frozen meat of the variety you have would be around 7.$ per pound.
To bad to lose that with seasons still a ways off. Might have to resort to eating beef or something. lol

Deer and Elk meat is the most expensive meat on this planet. $162 per pound.
Or at least it is according to Jeff Foxworthy!

When Katrina hit and we lost power for two weeks I lost all my elk meat in the freezer. The insurance adjuster asked me what it was worth and I told him $10/lb just off the top of my head. Asked me how much meat I lost and I said about 50-60lbs. Low and behold, in the statement that accompanied the check was a line item for $600 for lost elk meat. Now, this is Mississippi and they aren't too familiar with elk.

Okay thanks for the help guys!

Next question, does anyone know how many POUNDS of meat you would typically get from a deer.

I have 77 pounds of venison I lost, but need to figure out how much of each...

burger
tender loin
round steak
roast

in pounds this would be. Guess I'll just guesstimate.

Kind of depends on who you go to. I've got a guy that charges a max of $50 for an elk any way you want it cut up. I know of others that charge a min of $90 for a deer up to 100 lbs and then add on for each pound over. So I'd say a good figure would be in the $150-200 range to get a deer and a half processed.

Most ranches that sell meat charge $15.00 to $25.00 per pound depending on the cuts. Google deer meat and see what pops up.

Depending on how big your deer was, your looking at around 65-85 pounds of meat off the deer minus the bone. We cut up our own deer and do steaks and burger. Mostly burger. Sorry to hear about that. We would starve if we lost our game meat. No beef in this house. I look at it this way, how much would it cost for you to go shoot a buffalo at a ranch and have it cut up. The cost of a buffalo cut up should not waver too much from deer or elk. right now a buffalo about 2 1/2 years old is going about $700.00. Not cut up. Factor in time and resources, and you'll spend around $250.00 to $700.00 for deer or elk. Just buy beef. Not as good, but cheaper. Hunting season will be here sooner than you know it! Oh, and maybe buy a generator with the extra money for the freezer. :))

Bummer! I feel your plain. My frezzer went out on me 3 years ago ](*,) and I lost half a cow elk (Priceless) and a whole muler deer buck. I had spent $200 total on both to get it processed. I nearly cried. I would not have hunted if I knew it would have happened.

Thanks guys, I ended up getting a 1,000 dollars from my insurance company for the loss. Still would MUCH rather have had the meat, but fortunate to get some money to ease the pain.
