Mule Deer Rut?? Utah

Hey Sportsmen. When does the Mule Deer rut start and when is it's peek in your opinion or experience? And how long does it last.

Not sure I'll have much time, but I'd like to get out for some photography if possible?

I'm in Southern Utah

From what I've seen over the years around here it hits around from mid to late november.

Down where you are it might be a little later.

The difference in rut times is more of a north and south thing instead of east and west thing. I think that the elevation might have something to do with it also. Basicly the cycle of the seasons in the area that the deer are living in should dictate the cycle of the rut.

BRETT,

Ive seen days when big bucks are sniffing and checking does and chasing off lesser bucks, then that same night i have seen the same two bucks that were fighting be back feeding together all by themselves, not having a care in the world if there was a doe nearby.

I was able to watch 2 good sized bucks go at for a bit, as soon as they left the does, some smaller bucks would come in and start rutting and get stiff legged acting all big, it was quite funny, as soon as the bigger buck came back, the small bucks left and went back to being normal! (kinda reminds me of high school, lol)

so after typing all that, i dont think the rut has really kicked in hard yet, but its not to far off!

I've seen two bucks this last week that have been rutting, most have signs big nekcs and drooling, now all they need is a cold front.
