Mule Deer Still hunting

I am a dyed in the wool still hunter. I have been lucky enough to take a three cow elk using this method, in conjunction with calling. I want to give it a try for mule deer. Is there any deer call made that mule deer will respond to, and come in to, when you spot one in the timber? I am talking about during the September Colorado bowseason.

I believe archary hunting for mule deer has to be one of the hardest ways to kill a good buck. They are generally in herds (lots of eyes and noses) and not yet interested in the ladies. My best advice is set up near a food or water souce and try to intercept them. Most bucks can be paterned in Sept-find a route they are using, get the wind right and good luck.

Still hunting can work, you have to know the area, and know where the bucks like to bed. I use it quiet often, I do prefer spot and stalk, but when the day is slow, and moving from glassing areas, I tend to do it. As for calls, not likely, I have never had a buck or doe respond to calls any earlier than late Oct, they aren't afraid, just don't care. Better to just go silent.
This is my still hunting buck from this year.
