My Dad

I just wanted to post some pictures of my dad. He got me started in hunting when I was about 9, and was the best hunting partner a son could have. He could hunt and fish for just about anything.
He passed away last summer. The last two pictures are of a memorial I made for him at the top of his favorite deer hunting area. I also carried his ashes up there and spread them, exactly 20 years after he took me up there on my first deer hunt ever.
The cross is two pine boughs, about three feet each, and in the middle is an authentic Indian mandala. I cut the limbs with his hunting knife, which is buried beneath the cross.

I bet you miss him a lot !!!!!
I sure miss my dad , he passed away 6 years ago from ALS . darn nasty way to go !! :>/
Here is a photo of our last fishing trip .
I sure miss mine! Especially when I'm out in the field. He taught me more than any book, professor, or university could.
I am not an emotional guy (usually). But seeing such a heartfelt tribute to your father actually made me tear up. I am lucky enough to still have my father and he is still in good enough condition (at 64) to be able to hunt with me and walk the hills where I grew up hunting. It makes me so happy to see him with my son and I really hope that my son gets to know what it is like to spend time outdoors with my dad.
I know the years are probably few that I have left to enjoy hunting with my dad. Thanks for the reminder to cherrish each one of those moments.
Great post. Thanks.
