My first big buck!

Hello all, figured I would finally join up!

Well, myself and two buddies were hunting the heppner unit in Oregon. Day three we get a nice little forkey. And then this madness happned.

The last day of our trip we decide to give it one more morning hunt. We come to a fork in the trail and The three of us split up a few hundred yards apart working this thick timber. I see two monster bucks running up the hillside and I try to key in on one of these beasts. The lead buck stopped inbetween two trees and I squeese off the 30.06 from about 100 yards. I look up and see nothing. My heart sank as i figured I missed. Kicking myself for the next few minuts I circled around and run in to my buddy, and he is just ear to ear all excited. He had seen the entire thing. As luck would have it, my shot hit the base of his neck, and he went right down ware he stood. By the time I worked my way up the hill I could finally see just how big he was. I could not be more blessed to have gotten some meat for the freez, and this guys head on the wall.
