My Range Finder!

Here is the Range Finder I use and am very happy with it.

Which one do you guys/gals use and why?

I'M now using a bushnell legend (look like yours but black)
it's fully waterproof and floating, and easily range a caribou at 625 yards
and a deer at 475 (never tried farther).
my first range finder was a big yardage pro 500, and it stopped working
after a long moose hunting day under the rain.
i sent it back to bushnell for repair but the broken part was discontinued
so they sold me a legend for 200$ instead of the 450$ retail price.
warranty was over by 4 year. i was quite happy with the deal :thumb

I started out with a Bushnell and really liked it. Now I have a Nikon 600 and I like it also. It fits in my shirt pocket a little better.

I use the Leica Geovid BRF 10x42-binocular/rangefinder. The best of both worlds , IMO.

I had the oppurtunity to use three different types of rangefinders during a hunt this past season. Nikon 440, Leica 10X42 BRF, and Leopold RXII. The nikon's are nice and light but are limited to 440+- range, Leopold were nice but a little larger than the nikon, the Leica's were wonderfull you have the great bino and then a great range finder that reaches out to 1200 yards all in one. No switching back and forth. Now you just have to come up with the $1,900 to $2,500. I will probably stick to the nikons, I rarely like to shoot past 400 yards, and the nikon's price is respectable.

I also have a set of Leica 10x42 range finding binos. Great glass and quick to range. I have a set of Leupold wind river range finding binos but they only come in 8 power. Wanted more. the Leupolds also where slower to give range readings and seemed to eat battries. Had a problem with that set (wouldn't range) and set them to the factory. Leupold sent a new set free! Great company!

I just got the Nikkon 600 (the black one). Took it out on Saturday and was very pleased. I would have really liked to have the Swaro range finder that goes out to 1500+ yards, but the Nikkon fell more into my price range. Happy so far.

I have the Leupold RXII,I didnt like the way it DIDNT pick up targets beyond 300 yards so i sent it to Leupold and demanded a replacement, they replaced the internals, told me they couldnt find a problem but suprise suprise it works PERFECT now,if you have one send it in and tell them it dont work,no matter what they tell you they will fix it,I thik they had a bad run of these,i have seen afew guys not happy with them.

I bought a refurbished bushnell yardage pro 800 about eight years ago and have thought many times about upgrading it. My biggest problem is the stupid thing just keeps working fine season after season so with everything else on my never ending list of goodies I want "if it aint broke" I will just keep using it.

I use the same as you brett i bought it at cabelas on sale last year and i like it

I purchased a Bushnell Yardage Pro Legend at the tail end of 07' for $200 brand spanking new but didn't get a chance to use it much. My younger brother has the Leica 900 scan and it is a great rangefinder. Another friend has the Leica CRF 1200 and it fits nicely in a shirt pocket too. Most range finders today are getting pretty fancy with the ARC and angle compensation stuff in them - WOW! It almost takes the fun out of shooting guns/bows!

I use a Bushnell as well. Seems like whatever optics I buy gets replaced with Bushnell because of the quality. I have Bushnell scopes, rangefiner, and binoculars because all the others have failed. Seems to be a pretty stable brand.

Now, I know that there are 'better' brands out there that will last until my great, great grandson is born, but they also ost an arm-and-a-leg. Bushnell makes quality stuff at an affordable price.

I too started out with a Bushnell 800 and really liked it. Now I have a Nikon 600. I have found the Bushnell with reflective lens is alot slower than the laser Nikon..... John on the spot with Nikon and it reads 1/2 yard increments when archery hunting this is important. :arrow

Who has half yard pins on their bow? :funny-post

killerbee
:funny-post that is funny :))

No one has a 1/2 yard pin....LOL :funny-post ... but when shooting out of a tree-stand at 30yard at a extreme angle a 1/2 yard can make a big difference. A white tail will drop at the sound of a shot (also known as jumping the string) up to 9" add your missed 1/2 yard and you just missed your trophy.....

Leupold vx-II, i dig it, you have to get use to all the settings but when you do it is sweet, it has the true ballistic technology that will calculate in bullet drop as well as the arc technology for up and downhill shots!

I've been using the Nikon Laser 800. Had problems with the first one, so took it back to Cabelas and they gave me a new one. Seems to work great so far. Light weight and compatiable.. :thumb

I've got an Optilogic 120. It's made for bowhunters and goes to about 120 yards. It's a red dot system and works great. It's made in the U.S.A. by rednecks in Tennesee too! It measures in 1/2 yards too, but I'm too old to shoot that precisely anymore.
God bless.
Mark.

You said jump, hahahha that is a sign of either exceeding the limits of your bow, or your bow shoots to slow. Here in NC we average 55 deer per square mile, with about that many hunters too. so what i'm saying is that according to your statement(just say'n) that a pressured deer should jump the string well I've killed about 60 deer with my bow(NC,SC,Tenn, and VA) and not once have i had one jump the string and i shoot 57lbs, and i take shots a 45 yrds on PUBLIC LAND(which we have little off and a ton of hunters on it).....Deer jump cause of something prior to the shot taking place

I agree with BOHNTR, Leica is the only way to go. I have one and it reads out to 1200 yards accuratly. When the shot counts, use a Leica! :not-worthy

mY monarch 1200 ranges well beyond 1300,about 1/2 the price of a lieca and works just as well as the one my partner bought last year, maybe better beyond 1100.In a hunting scenario any range finder that will range out to 600 every time will meet 99% of us hunters needs, the problem is the ones rated for 6-800 yards usually wont, especially the leupold POS's

nonya,
you get what you pay for... trust me.... i've sold these things and nothing, i mean nothing is better than a leica! Do what i had to do, save your money and buy the best. Its been dropped, sat on, kicked, and had a horse fall on it. Works like a gem! 10sign:

Ok you have owned them all and know all, sorry

Mack Daddy Muley
darn skippy. So, would you rather some one with knowledge not say anything and let you buy crap... guess so. =;
17
NONYA
whatever, nobody likes a know-it-all,there is more than one brand out there that works well and quite a few that do and cost less than a leica, show me something your lieca can do that my monarch 1200 cant for about half the price....waiting....
17
Mack Daddy Muley
ok here is what you do... get a horse, saddle it, pull it over on top of your range finder and see how well yours works, then kick it around, sit on it, and range something. Also, find someone with a leica, and find a deer, moose or elk or just an inadimate object and compare. The leica will pick up the object better. Leica also uses better glass which makes it more clear to look out of. Let us know.

Heres what you do,get over yourself and check back later.
