actually the weatherby is the only one that has taken an animal. Myself, my father and my brother have taken just under 60 total whitetails with it over the course of the last 20 years. the 788 came with my wife and she only took it out once. The savages are both new, and i will probably make the 7 mag my primary hunter.

yup, it began as my fathers, and once it came time for me to hunt it was more comfortable for me to shoot than his mossberg, so last trip to so cal, he gave it to me. I shot my very first deer with that gun, as well as my largest.

Wharpoley, good hunting rifles there. I put in one yr at FT Carson while serving in the Army I loved it, wonderful country. And I hunted as a resident, and took advantage of it and had a great time.

That's a nice bedspread there Wharpoley. Is that handmade? hehe..
just playing a little.

Those are nice looking hunting rigs you got there. I like the way you have painted the stocks and scopes. I have tried that, but for the most part it has ended up coming off in the elements for me. Is there a story behind the muzzle break on that 270? Was that model made by Howa here in Japan? I heard they are real shooters and a great bang for the buck. Those are all fine rifles, but if I were to chose one to hunt deer with I think I would take that 243, mostly because of it's compactness, and I kinda have something for redfield scopes, especially older ones like that. I've heard lots of good things about them.

The weatherby is a howa action made in Japan, and the muzzlebreak was added about 2 years ago, just for looks at first however, it does settle the gun down a lot. I shoot about 3/4" inch groups with it.

The .243 is my wifes gun and i have yet to take it out in the field. But she has and for her being 5'2" it is the right size. it's a tad short for me. The weatherby is the most compact gun i have that still fits me well.

I have made an agreement with my wife to purchase 1 gun per year, and it s around that time. My next gun will more than likely be a Rem 870 or Moss 500.

I was wondering, in all of my years of hunting Mule Deer I have yet to see anyone else in the woods with any of Brownings Lever Rifles...
I own 3 now and I absolutely love em. They are unlike just about any other lever gun out there. they are fast, light, accurate, smooth and the fit and finish is about as " Browning" as it gets.

I own one of each in .308, .243 and .300 WSM. I have taken many deer, elk and antelope with em.

I own lots of very nice bolt guns and love them all but, I always go back to my BLRs .

Does anyone else hunt with them?? #-o

I"ve never shot one of the browning's, but I've got a good friend who shoot's a winchester model 88 in 308. It's a great gun, handles well and shoot's fairly good. I've been looking to pick one up used, but I might have to try one of the BLR's
