Nevada buck 2008

Well here is my Nevada buck. This is my first year hunting Nevada and it was a blast. We started hiking at 1:00 am and got to camp just as it got light, so we started hunting on no sleep. I have a lot of hunts this year so I couldn't take alot of time for this hunt. Stalked two nicer bucks (one in the 180 range) but although I got to 30 yards I couldn't get a shot. I then set up under a cliff and caught this buck moving through an escape route. He turned broadside at 32 yards and I couldn't resist. He is 27.5" wide and fairly heavy but is only a three point. Unique frame with no front forks. Lots of fun and 7.5 mile hike back to the truck. It doesn't get much better. Utah deer elk starts saturday, then alaska aug 28, followed by wyoming deer antelope sept 15th and whitetail in kansas novemeber 5th. Should be fun.

Big time Congrats. That is an awsome looking buck. How far did he go? What equipment were you using (your bow, arrows, and broadheads)? Again congrats on a great buck.

I herd you were after him also. Maybe I should have passed because he is only a three and a half year old buck with great genetics.

Everyone in Utah thinks the deer herd is taking a nose dive. :-$ A friend had found several bucks at or over 30 inches on a southern Utah general season area with one monster that is a 10x10 that will go way over 200" He however would not give us the exact location until he could have a chance at it with us. We didn’t want to over populate the southern part of the state so I stayed up north and settled with this buck. It is a crappy phone picture enjoy. All I have until Dustin Pennington gets off the mountain with his camera.

Great bucks guys. Archery deer season is still 6 weeks off here in Michigan and I don't have a trip out west until November. It really makes me envious to see you guys taking bucks like that already. One heck of a way to start out a season. Nice job!

27.5 in wide with 7x8 some of the points I call a point might not be called points but I sure like them. ill have to post a few side pictures when i get them. so you can see the extra points and the bladed g3's.

Hey Scott that is a great buck. He looks bigger than 160 for sure. We had a blast up there on the opener. I missed that double droptine buck on Monday morning and just about got a shot at the 5 by 5 I have been watching for the last few years yesterday morning. I have been pretty impressed with a few of the bucks up there. Did you guys ever see the 6 by 6? He is a younger buck but he has great genetics. I had my wifes cousin with me and he shot an old beat up buck we named lumpy. He is basically a huge massive two point (3 by 4 before breaking off) with little crabby points and incredible mass. His mass measurements are over 40". His main beam is broken on one side and it looks as though he had a recent rumble with a cougar. Claw marks on his sides and face and the main beam wasn't broken two weeks ago. We also found 125 grain magnus broadhead above his shoulder with about two inches of scar tissue around it. He was definetly on his way down hill. Last year he sported longer tines and a hook cheater. None the less a great massive buck 25.5" wide with worn down teeth and his first archery buck. If that buck had nine lives he spent his last one monday morning.

Again congrats on an awesome buck. Isaac tried to send me pics a couple times but they never came through. I am glad you posted them on here. Hopefully I will have a picture to post from Utah soon. I leave for Alaska next thurs so I had better hurry.
