NEVADA DRAW

Less then a month for the NV draw. How many of you guys applied for here and for what?

Heres what I put In for...
Early Season Cow Elk Any Weapon
Mule Deer
Bonus points for Horns Longer Antelope and California Bighorn

im down for nevada, i whent "antlerd deer with 0 points" "cal bighorn with 3 points" "desert big horn with 3 points" "antlerd elk archery with 2 points" and "antelope shorter than ears with no points" im on the 5 year list for big antelope. hopefully ill pull one tag at least....... good luck too you on the draw.

i had to just do points for everything this year. hopefully next year will be a better year and i can start trying to use up my 7 points for everything [-o<

 Oh really? I thought I read somehwere on NDOW that the draw was on the 13th on June. Hopefully you guys are right though.

 They always put a date in June, but historically they end up showing results a couple weeks earlier. The past couple years this has been late May.

Hopefully we are right, otherwise we will look like real heels. :>/

May or June... regardless it feels like a century im all in for tags including spring bear. I keep checking the bank account hoping to see a list of withdraws from ndow. It's the only time of the year I look forward to seeing money go bye bye

Put in for deer archery with no points, Antelope horns longer than ears with 1 point, California sheep with 10 points, Desert sheep with 10 points, Antlered elk with 10 points, Mountain Goat with 10 points, and Rocky Mountain Sheep with 10 points. Im a resident here in NV so hopefully this is my year but with the point system here you never know. [-o<

Sounds like you have got a fighting chance with some of those tags...For The Love of It, I remeber you saying something about someone in your family having an elk tag, how did that hunt turn out?

Yeah I was actually on 3 bull elk hunts last year in NV. The first guy was a friend from work and he killed a 280-300 type 6x6 on opening day near Ely. Then two days later my mom killed a 332 5x5 near Ely. Two days after that I went to help a friend in jarbidge where we found and killed a 347 7x7. I was also fortunate enough to help a guy kill a california big horn in the black rock range. So hopefully this is my year to be the one behind the trigger but if not I dont mind being the spotter.

Deer buck tags down 15%, but cow elk up 58%! Wonder why the decrease in deer tags?

I read this a fews days ago as well. (you wouldnt be checking for a sign of tags too would you??) [-o< i can not put my finger on the reasoning for it. but that is why I am not a biologist. one thing i do know is i have a couple bonus points for cow and my odds just skyrocketed.

Yeah, I was looking for any news of tags :) . I only have one point for the cow elk so we will see what happens. It says in the article that the "wildlife commision" didnt listen to what the biologists had to say. Who is the commision is what Im wondering.

I think this sums it up. I'm actually going branding with one of the men on that list this weekend who I admiraly respect and is in my eyes one of the most intelligent rancher and conservationist I've ever met if someone can fill us in on this matter I think it will be him.

I have enough points to get my deer tag so im kind of happy if they dont increase the tags in my zone, but i would love to hear the reason they didnt listen to the biologist.

woo hoo!! results are in!! i pulled an archery tag area 10 early. my dad, wife, and brother in law drew rifle deer area 11 early. My father and I pulled rifle cow elk area 11 ill be hunting for months!! if i remember right the cow elk and rifle deer seasons overlap. and we've all got the same area which is also in the same area as our ranch well be "roughing it" for sure. lol

i got skunked no tags for me hopefully ill pull a archery deer tag in the second draw. if not my buddies little brother drew a 021 junior tag and ill be able to join him on his first deer hunt.

 There is only a handfull of units that I imagine would take that many points to draw.

To all that were wondering I spoke shortly with my friend who is a commissioner for ndow. He said he voted for a 50% decrease in buck tags. The biologists wanted no decrease and they settled somewhere between. He said his reasoning why was the extreme winter kill in 93 if I remember correctly " wiped out close to half of Nevadas deer herd "and since 93 there has not been a large enough decrease in tags to let the herd numbers re grow.


P.s don't kill the messenger I was 7 years old in 93 so have no ground to stand on as far as facts are concerned.
