New Camo - Kings or Predator

Well I'm looking to pick up some new camo this summer.

Been looking at Kings Desert Shadow or Predator Spring Green (not sure on which is best pattern for Predator?)

What what say ye? How many of you use either one? And where is the best place to buy it? Seems like there was someone on here that sold one or the other but can't remember who?

Thanks,
Brett

I use both the Kings Desert shadow and moutain shadow. I ordered my new pants last year from Buckmaster!!! He is the one you are looking for Brett. Anywho I have loved the quality of the Kings stuff that I have. It has lasted very well. :thumb

Haven't used the Kings, but a lot of Predator...The Spring Green has been one of their best patterns! :thumb

Brett,
I would also take a look at ASAT. That is what I use and love it.

Well, I can say for the King's that it blends in well to Utah's Desert/Sage brush. Ive never seen the Predator Camo against it to know if its very effective or not. You man want to also look at Advantage Max-1, it seems to work great for me in desert/sage brush AND in mountain/light pine areas.

I like Nat-Gear, but I'm biased because it is based in my home state of Arkansas. I think it works great out west. We don't have a lot of outdoor manufacturing here, but we do have the Remington Ammunition plant in Lonoke and Natural Gear is based in Little Rock.

For utah predators Kings desert shadow is an almost perfect pattern. I agree with wingmaster that the natural gear is really good out west. I've used both. The desert shadow is best when your set up for a stand next to a sage brush. The natural gear is best when the utah desert dirt is at your back. Both are great camo patterns to use when saving fawns from coyotes.

Never tried the predator spring green so I can't give a good opinion on it.

I use predator and I have been very happy with it. Mine isn't spring green though. It is mostly brown with a hint of green. If I could afford it I would buy ASAT. That stuff is amazing. I went with predator because it closely resembles ASAT more so than all the others. Hope this helps.

Right now I'm leaning towards Kings stuff. I really like the Mountain Shadow, cause it blends well in the high and low country. But I wouldn't mind Predator either, espeacially the green for the bow hunt.

This is what I just went with...The new Sitka OptiFade! Don't get me worng, love my Predator, but it's mostly cotton stuff, no wicking capabilities, that's where stuff like Sitka comes in...This and the Mothwing also blends well with the sage. The OptiFade should be even better... :thumb

Nothing can beat Predator and ASAT for versatility. Don't worry which Predator color/pattern to use, it is the break-up that you want, and any of them will work in any terrain. I like ASAT a bit more simply because it is more durable clothing and saves you money in the long run.

You guys might not agree with me and this may cause a stir but I recently purchased the Optifade pattern from Sitka. OUTSTANDING!! I live in Nevada but hunt at 10,000. Been in the Rubys three weekends scouting and practicing stalks and I am sold. 15 yards from a 180 class in the sugar pines at a 60% view angle and he had no clue. I could sit out on a open face with deer at less than 200 yards and they never paid attention to me. Really looking forward to August 1st!!!!! I realize that it is expensive and it is a new idea but I figure I have my camo set up until I wear or wash em out.

I'm pretty impressed with it so far, we'll see here in a few weeks also...

I actually just picked up some mtn shadow and I really like it especially in the darker pine areas. I have been using predator brown deception for a couple of years and I have been sold on it. I put a stalk on a buck last year and got within 30 yards of the buck then realized that I had 4 other does within 20 yards and luckily I saw them before they saw me. Anywho had one doe walk within about 7 yards looked at me and she turned away and walked off. Great camo for a decent price. I bought my predator from jakes archery in Orem they have pretty decent prices on their gear and they have a pretty good selection of camo if you ask them to look at their catalog. Thought about ASAT as well IMO you can never have enough camo!

I haven't tried the others but I really like my predator Camo. I have most of the different colors and they all work well. Many times my partners are with in 100 yards or so when we are closing in on a herd of wapiti and I can't see them unless they move. Good stuff! :thumb

Alright this is the way my brain works, now if 'breakup' is most important I'd say Kings comes in last place. Although I still like it, cause I'm in sage brush a lot.

I'm leaning towards Predator, but would like to buy/try the Sitka if it wasn't so dang expensive.

IMO predator brown deception would work the best for down in southern utah and in the sage brush. Predator also has a polyester top that is a little more expensive I believe around $35 but it is a lot more breathable.

Best of luck on choosing which camo brand and pattern you are going to go with! I know it is a tough decision :-k

I hunt down south as well and just bought some King's Desert camo because of the sagebrush aspect. It's comfortable and seems to be quite durable and quiet, however if I had the money i would probably go with Predator because of the break-up factor as others have said.

I am with you guys! Sitka Gear is the best on the market. Doesnt even match up. When you compair it to anything else, its like compairing a go-cart to a nice new truck. Two complete different worlds!! Its not just about the color/camo with Sitka - its the technology of thier clothing. Try something on and you will see! It feels like you are naked and in waterproof camouflage!!!

Email me if you really need to learn more. I have both Kings and Sitka, and nowmuch prefer Sitka!

Def go with the Kings side of Camo. I always preferr the Sitka gear, but Kings does a fine job and is a little cheaper on the pocket book. Dont buy at the big box stores - you pay the price. Just google Kings camo and you'll find good online dealers. Or- buy from Kings direct, but I know the online guys sell cheaper than Kings does
