I have a pair of Nikon Monarch ATB's 10x42. I don't think you can find better glass for the money. They are super clear and gather light well. Excellent glass for under $300.

The Nikons have great glass. I own a pair of Monarchs, the 8 X 42's which are waterproof. I've had many good compliments about them. :thumb I paid something like $250.00 for them a few years ago.

I'm not sure about the Redfield. I will say that any binos in the $200-300 range will be pretty good. I would recommend that when you're shopping for a pair, take them outside and look through them. Most stores will let you do this and long as your escorted. It will make a difference when comparing them. Choose the ones that work or look the best for you.

My next pair will be Swarovski, but I'll need to save a bit for those.

Good luck!

My first pair of binos were Nikon Monarchs, for the money I don't know if theres a better pair of binos they were awesome. Before making your decision take a look at Vortex glass my friend has a pair and he loves them. I looked through them and I think Nikon has a challenger for best "bang for the buck" in binos. I've seen some deals on camofire.com for Vortex binos.

I have the Nikon Monarch ATB 12X42 and found them for $275 a few years ago. They are awesome binocs and have a lifetime warranty. The new EDG models will definitely be worth the money. I am a photography professor and only use Nikon equipment. I would definitely upgrade to the EDG because of the low dispersion ED glass that they use... same as their top notch camera lenses. You cannot go wrong with these optics.

The Monarchs really created the best glass for the money category, but Vortex is quickly stealing away the category. I had Monarchs back in the day when Cabela's cared about their customers, but they just were not quite enough, so Cabela's allowed me to upgrade to the Euros, which are over double the price and I have no regrets, but do what you can with your budget.

I'm not sure which model is the best. Honestly, you get what you pay for in glass so i'd buy the best ones they have in your price range.
