i was having a conversation with a friend a couple of days ago and we started to discuss why deer will grow non-typical horns and why a deer with a drop tine will grow the same drop tine back year after year. Neither of us know why, if any of you have an idea of why this happens i would love to know!

Antler growth is tied to genetics and nutrition. A animal can only reach the potential of its genetics with proper nutrition. However, if an antler is damaged while still in velvet it can grow oddly, but just for that year.
