NOT AS EASY AS IT LOOKS

HI GUY'S I GOT A TREE STAND THIS YEAR SO I COULD TRY HUNTING MY ELK (SPIKE OR COW) FROM IT. I WENT OUT THE OTHER DAY TO SET IT UP AND PRACTICE SHOOTING OUT OF IT AND GET THE FEEL OF HANGING IT.........COME TO FIND OUT IT IS ALOT HARDER TO HANG THAN YOU WOULD THINK (FIND THE RIGHT TREE,GET UP HIGH ENOUGH,SHOOTING OUT OF IT,ECT.)
DO YOU HAVE ANY TIPS OR TRICKS THAT YOU WOULD BE WILLING TO SHARE WITH ME (???)

THANKS TYLER

What type of stand did you get, climing ,hanging or ladder? In any case start with a good safety harness.

Just keep practicing with it. Like anything it takes time. I gave my climber to my brother-in-law a while back and it nearly crippled him. Seems his abs weren't in the best of shape from all the 12 ounce curls and cheetos. lol

I agree. it is not easy to find the right tree to set up in. i found it real hard to stay awake in the tree. i guess i am a spot and stock kind of hunter. good luck.

make sure you spend some time to make a good plan before you start climbing and go up the side of the tree that will be easer to hang the stand from.
A good safty belt with a climbing belt so you can have both hand free to work with is very important . and if you can manage a crodless drill to start some pilot holes will help.
and don't set your steps to far apart. 18" or so or for me the distance from my elbow to my fingertips.

good luck and practice in the yard a couple of times.
after you have put it up a few 1000 time you'll start to get good at it.
