NV ELK

Here are some pics of some NV elk that I took last weekend. Too bad I don't have an elk tag this year.

These cows (3) and calves (3) are heading to water where I'm sitting...

The sun is setting and low and behold, my flash goes off with the bull and 50 yards and the cows at 10! All hell broke loose when the flash went off.

I was about to stand up as I didn't want those close cows to get behind me. My thoughts were that when they finally figured out they weren't alone I would get trampled in the stampede! There's nothing better than being close enough to elk to smell them. Except being that close and having a tag.

Those are some GREAT photos Mark. I especially liked the sequence as they closed it.

beauty! Exactaly what i'm looking for this season... of course I havent seen a bull yet and theres only 10 days left, haha.. Startin college has really put a damper on this years hunting season :>/ .. Maybe I should just drop out and go hunt with the pro's (i.e. Mark Jones) :-k

great pics, thanks for sharing, at least I saw one shooter bull this season now :)

 I killed my avatar bull 2 miles from this location last year. I could see the wallow where I arrowed him from this waterhole. There are a lot of big bulls in this particular area and it gets very little pressure.

In 3 years I have yet to see anyone hunting elk here. Wilderness designation keeps the casual hunters out. Just the way I like it...

 As with all of NV, this is indeed a draw area. It took me 19 yrs to draw this area. I have to wait 9 more yrs before I can even apply for a bull tag again.

However, I can apply for a cow tag every year until then. That averages about 1 tag every 2 years. Maybe next year!

 It's one of 5 seeps on this mountainside. One would be better!
