ol' killer found a good set!

see if these work before i type: it did.
so i went up this morning just to see if i could glass the bulls i seen last night. i was a good mile away. and right away i seen them feeding into some timber. so i decided to go and glass another side canyon. i hiked about 2 miles away from the other bulls and started glassing. after a while i spotted a part of a beam. hiked over and found this shed[ the non-typ] i was set on finding the match it only took about 45 minutes to find it about 200 yrds away! i was pretty stoked!!!! the big side scored 156" and has 8 scorable points +2 more ring hangers lol the smaller side scored 132" with 7 scoreable points +1 ring hanger. [ inside joke, my dad swears it's a 10x8 because if you can hang a ring on it- it counts...] anyway tons of charactor! deffinatly my best find ever!! and there seems to be alot of elk around so hopefully in a week or 2 i can get back in there and pick up more

Whereabouts did ya find em? (You know me bud, I am not asking for secret spots...just curious as to what part of the state)

i was amazed to find them, it's not in are northeast corner[ which is oregons best elk hunts] right here in central oregon. i've hunted this are for yrs, unfortunatly 2 yrs ago it went to a draw for archery and i haven't been able to hunt it since. i have 5 times the amount of preference points to draw it but have been saving them for one of are "big 3 " units. i might have to re-think that. it is the unit i know by far the best and have done farely well on elk hunts in the past. if i start finding more bulls like thisi'm burning those points! there are more bulls in the area, i seen 3 bulls packing both sides last night in a draw about a mile away. it doesn't open up for vehicle traffic for another month +[ protected under a winter range] but you can hike a couple miles to get back in there and then a couple more miles to get to the many different drainages.

Well CONGRATS Brian. If there are bulls like that in that unit then forget about the big three in the NE!

I might have to make a roadtrip down there one of these weekends just to go do a little sightseeing!

Great find Killer! I envy you guys out there. I am hardly finding time to scout turkeys, let alone look for WT sheds.

thanks guys, like i said i dont shed hunt a ton like others. there are tons of guys, and a couple girls, on this forum that would laugh at my shed hunting . but hey, i put a good hike in, spent some time behing my spotting scope, and found a good set. i'm tickled pink.....[ whatever that means, i just heard the saying alot] i hope i can find some more horns in the next couple weeks! but since how i still seen 3 bulls packin, would it still be in my best interest to completly stay away for a week or so?? i really want to go again saturday but i also dont want to pressure the animals and/or push them out of the area completly. what ya think??

Who could possibly laugh at your shed hunting. You say you don't spend much time at it but then you post photo's of a set like that. 10sign: I'd say your type of find, for a little time spent puts you in the upper tier of shed hunters. Congrats on one very cool find. :thumb

Great find for sure. Those need to go on the wall. If you dont mind me asking could you tell me what elevation you found them at to give me an idea on what range to hike. Congrats again
