one week unitl we leave for Montana

It's almost time for our trip to Montana. Thanks for all the inof and help inpreparing for the trip. WE will arrive in Glasgow and spend the first day scouting and getting to know the area as best we can. WE will be on private land north of Glasgow and then looking into BLM around the fort peck reservior. Any other sugggestions or advice? We have the deer/elk combo a tag, but were told there are no elk in the area. Mule deer are the target but if we fill a tag early in the hunt is ther any way of looking for an elk near glasgow (within a days drive?)

You probably have to go all the way over to the Lewistown area to find elk in the Snowy and Little Belt mountains. That's around a 3 and a half hour drive.
Check your regulations for that area first - I don't know the rules for that part of MT but think you can hunt with an A tag.
