Openine Morning 2010 Nevada Muley

August first was the opener to Nevada's archery season and my dad was fortunate enough to sneek to within 40 yards of this giant. I havent put a tape to him as we are being extremely careful with the velvet so feel free to guess his score. I also have an archery tag but missed a buck a little smaller as I was packing this guy out. Theres always next time though.

I'd say he'd score in the mid to upper 160s Net and mid 170s Gross.. Great looking buck. Congrats. 10sign:

What a beautiful looking velvet typical. Congratulations to the hunter on a terrific mule deer.

Score? Well, he's a trophy no matter what the number ends up. Having said that, his only weakness is short main beams & inside spread. Even with that, I'd put him netting in the low to mid 170's. Hope I see one like him in a few weeks, as I'll be after one like him in a heart beat. Thanks for sharing with us.

Congrats... that is an awesome buck. Did you guys find him opening morning or had you been watching him for a while before the season?

Seeing a buck like that makes the wait for the 21st even longer.

Nice buck, great buck with a bow. Congrats. I would guess mid to upper 180's gross. Makes our wait for the muzzle season seem that much shorter, when we get to see nice bucks like this one.

Nice Solid buck Hope I see one like that later this month. :thumb
My guess 170’s, Good G2 & G3 with a Low branch measurement and decent fronts. Fronts being 65% of the total score, main beam, G4 & inside spread.

Very nice buck! I would guess he would gross somewhere around 176. I am soo jealous that you guys are hunting already!

That is a great archery buck!

I may be way underestimating that buck, but I would only put it in the low 160's gross. As pointed out by others, his main beams are a very short which virtually kills the score. That being said, I would shoot that thing in a heartbeat and be more than thrilled with it.

Well I finally got time to score the buck and I came up with 163 according to my tape. The buck was killed out of area 043-046.
