Opening day learning experience

Well opening day of achery season has come and gone and now I am back at work-dang.
I had quite a learning experiance this weekend- could have tagged out within the fist two hours with a raghorn bull at fifteen feet-yes fifteen feet.
I was sitting at a known escape route while my husband still hunted the area. Sure enough at about 7:30 I hear him comming (the elk not my husband) so I get ready. Boy its can be hard to catch the string with your release when the both are jumping around so much. :)) Finnaly catch the string and now the bull is closing fast moving at a lope. I cow call with my mouth twice and he skids to a stop fifteen feet from me broadside -slam dunk I think -but the archey gods have conspired against me. I put my bow up concentrating on the spot behind the shoulder and pull-- nothing moves-- I pull harder-still nothing. By now the bull know the gig is up, spins and runs off. I am still trying to pull my bow back, dumbfounded at what happened I head for the truck. :-k
After a consultation and some laughing my Jack thinks it was because my bow was cold that I couldn't pull it back. He worked it a few time and sure enough I could pull it then. We figured that since I had it turned up to the maximun I could pull and always practiced in the afternoon was why I couldn't work it that morning.
My bow is now turned down a bit, and I always try it before leaving the truck.
Besides, what fun would it be to tag out withing the first two hours, right? :thumb
