Photo problems!!

I don't know what is going on. I can see most every ones photos that are posted, however in the last week the photos that I post are not viewable by me on my computer. I am wondering if any one elese is having this problem. Can you see the photo in this post. The one that I have notices that I can not see is the photo I posted of my brothers buck in the mule deer forum under the title post your 2009 mule deer here.

This is really getting to me. So I posted the pic of what I have been seeing of my own pictures and i can actually see that one.

Brett, was the allowable image size modified recently. What is the allowable image size now?

MuleyMadness
DeadI, nope I didn't mod anything recently. Shouldn't be a limit on image dimensions, but how big maybe...meaning file size. Which is 256 KB I believe.

Will it let you click on that box? When did it work for you last?

DeadI
Nothing happens when i click on the box. And when the last time everything worked was when I posted the pictures of my brothers buck on wednesday afternoon. I can see them just fine.

Have you tried clearing your cache? You may have reached the limit set and is taking longer to load due to "pushing" the older stuff out. Internet explorer or Firefox?
4
DeadI
Internet Explorer. Have not tried it on firefox. How do I clean out that cache?
4
DeadI
I just installed firefox to give it a try and it doesn't work either. Going to try posting another pic.

When installing firefox there is an option to retrieve settings from IE so if you didn't notice that it would have transferred the settings. Here's a link to Microsoft that explains a few reasons with fixes to get your pic's showing again. Method 2 is the same as clearing the cache. If you're running a (software) firewall and none of the fixes in the link work then the problem will be in the firewall software most likely but I'm sure the MS fixes will take care of it for you.

I went through all of those options and nothing worked. The stupid thing is that when I use my laptop at work everything shows up fine. But while at home nuttin.

Sorry those didn't work for you. You said it works fine when using your laptop at work, is it the same laptop you are using at home but doesn't work? If it's the same computer both locations, try resetting your modem/ router at home. You can then try a tracert from home to see where the problem is if it is in the network. Run tracert as follows.....

Go to the start button lower left
click Run...
type cmd, click OK
type tracert www.muleymadness.com (note space after tracert), hit enter.

It will then run a series of tests checking for lost packets. Once completed, put your cursor in the window, right click, select "select all"(or try to left click and drag to hi-lite all text), hold down Ctrl and press C, open up word or notepad, place cursor on blank page, hold down Ctrl and press V. Post that document so we can see the results.

It would not let me take and copy paste the text in the tracert test. But here is the picture I took of the results. I figure you guys will be able to see it where I can not.

Well, your tracert looks good with no loss. Is it the same computer just changing locations? Next thing to try would be to repair Internet explorer, you can do this from the add/remove programs section in the control panel.

DeadI
yes same computer just different location.

Hmmm, that helps narrow it down to the problem not being in your laptop. Sometimes the ISP blocks or drops files but to have only the ones you uploaded blocked seems odd. Have you tried re-booting the router/ modem? Unplug both from power, plug in the modem first and wait for about 2-3 minutes then plug in your router. I will post a link to a better tracert program that will do a continuous scan to see if there's loss from the network.

This is a free trial, if you keep the .msi file you can just remove (add/remove programs)and reinstall once trial has expired.

http://www.pathanalyzer.com/download.opp

d/l the windows version, install

click "evaluate" once opened

type http://www.muleymadness.com in target box

select "continuous" in the drop down to the right of the trace button

click the trace button

This will do a continuous trace so don't leave it going for too long, 2-3 minutes should be fine.

You should see a flat red line at top, latency should be all close to the same.

Here's a screenshot.......................
my 6th hop shows hi- latency and could be a problem causing dropped packets.

I am thinking it is the router as well. I got on our desktop computer last night and it is doing the same thing my laptop is doing. I will try unpluging my wireless router tonight when I get home and see if that does anything. Thanks for all your help so far RoTun.
