Do to abuse of commenting in the Photos section, we have removed
the option of posting comments. Sad to say, but there are a lot of losers posting complete garbage and crap!
Sorry to all the ethical and respectful hunters out there.
Thanks for your support and positive comments.

However, I would have to agree, the stupid comments ruin the fun enjoyable nature of the feature.
Too bad some people ruin it for all. I suppose we could do a "login" type of thing, where you had to login, to be able to comment.
I really don't like this idea, as it is just one more username/password to worry about. And more of a hassle then it is worth. IMHO
Just my two pennies. At least we can still see the pictures! =)
Well I don't really have a fair say in this because I haven't been to the photo section for a long while. I don't really know how bad it has gotten so my vote is based on my past experiences. I will hafta say that the comment option needs to come back. I know people write some trash in there and it doesnt have to do with hunting at all but there is great information you can collect on there. If your willing to look past the trash and look more towards the information than hey it aint so bad after all. There will always be those select few that ruin everything but why spoil it for all those true hunters an outdoorsmen that really enjoy talking about beautiful trophies. Well theres my polished pennies worth.
hey man hows it going, going as good as can be expected from my end. muley madness had made me the moderator for the photo section, and unfortunately i have to say i don't totally agree with you. i started out going through them about once a week, i soon found that that was not going to be enough, and so i tried two, sometimes three times a week. it was just not enough, the comments would not have been so bad had they been comments about the animal in the photo, however, the comments were getting rude, degrading, and down right rotten about folks in the photos, and i mean there were some disgusting comments being written. now, with that being said i think there are ways around this, say for example someone wants to write a comment or talk about a particular deer, these folks will have to maka a account and come into the forum, so that a tighter leash can be put on them. so if someone truely wants to talk about an animal all they have to do is come into the forum section. i actually have already met two guys from the photo section that did not want to come into the forum section but rather went into the information area and got my email address and started writing me personal email. it has been a great outlet for people to get to know one another. i am totally willing to give up any information about the areas of wyoming that i know, as long as it does not interfere with my plans for the future season. i enjoy helping folks, doing whatever possible to make there hunts in wyoming or where ever for that matter a success, i don't claim to know everything about hunting, but what i do know i like to share, and from little i know of the people around here, they all seem to be pretty helpful and good honest folks.
so, bottomline is this, i apologize to muleymadness, yourself, and all the other regulars around here for not being able to keep up with the garbage that had become the photo section. and hopefully we all can come up with a solution to this problem so that we can give our comments to one another in the photo section.
I can't say that I disagree because you give a really good point on the subject. I would love to see the photo comments come back because I personally enjoyed commenting on how good of an animal somebody took or what it scored or where it was bagged. I find those things quite interesting and love to share information on them. I am going to agree I simply voted to allow the comments but now since I have rethought it I think it doesnt matter anyway. The true hunters post their pictures in the forums and we all can drool an talk about it right here. I've been a victim of the rude comments also, I made a few spelling mistakes when I asked a question and let me tell you that they didn't let that go unoticed LOL but it also kinda made me mad in a way. Why can't we all just get along?lol yeah right......anyhow I am excited to see what kind of solution you all come up with and for now I support you 100% in your decision making. Its hard to please all but I think by taking away the comments is one way to keep the unwanted out and keep the true hunters in. Oh and to answer your question about how I am doing, I hafta say i've been better. Hammered my thumb to a board today lol aint lookin too good right now but im only a half month away till my late season Cow Elk hunt so thats keepin me ready an excited. Well I wish yall luck and hope there is a way around all the trash that people say besides takin em to a dump.
Thanks for the input and comments.
Brett
I probably shouldn't have even responded to some of the terse comments left on the pictures that I have an interest in......I let my better judgement get overcome by my ego. I hope none of my retorts offended anyone; if so, I apologize to all.
I too enjoy the exchange of information about the photo subjects and hope we can move forward with some sort of editing process. I do not like censorship (generally) but some folks just don't know how to behave. Good manners seem to be a dying thing these days.
My dear, old momma would love to jerk her belt off and wear those cretins out !!
I am new here, but not new to hunting or it websites. I know exactly what you are talking about- Ie: people talking trash about other people and their trophies, bad mouthing, snide comments, etc. I have seen it several times on other sites. Personally, I think the best policy is deal with the loser, not your population as a whole. If you have 99% ethical supportive friendly hunters and 1% idiot loser. Why take something away from the 99%. Escpecially if your members are using this as a "kinda break the ice" way to talk to eachother. Have the comments submitted for review, if they are okay post them public. If not deal with that person and smack him/her hard. If you have someone who is consistantly acting up -get rid of them. I come to these sites to look at other's hunters trophies, interacting with hunters from other areas and learn new things on hunting. People don't want to come here and be badmouthed by some faceless idiot getting tough to his computer screen. This is only my view and as advise , you can of course flush it if you feel different. Hope everyone gets the deer they are looking for!
nice to see another person from the state of wyoming. i thought there for awhile i was all alone. lol.
you make a very good point, in fact all those making the comment, "why should one or two bad eggs ruin it for everyone else," make a good point. however after trying to be a moderator of the photo section for only a few weeks, it was obvious, those one or two had grown to 50% of the folks making comments. i even found some of our regulars trying to get back at people, i am as guilty as the next, the problem is this; the people making the rude comments number one were very seldom making the comments about the animal but rather directed towards the hunter, i mean COME ON! number two the good folks would sign in, make an account, become regulars, get to know everyone, the negative buttheads would only sign on as guests. how do you stop that? they are trying to hide behind whatever cover they had and ruined it for you and i.
like i said in a earlier post, those that want advice, information or whatever are usually the ones that will hang out in the fringes for awhile and then make a account and become regulars. there are ways for these folks to become known, i have met two great people with awesome knowledge of hunting and who have become "friends" through this website without ever writing a single word on the website. i have tried to convince them to become members, and they will at the right time, just not yet.
so, bottomline, i hope there is a way we came get through all the garbage! it will be tough to ban one or two particular people because it is so easy to make a new account and log on with different username. i have seen the same problem on monstermuleys.com, and other such websites, however, because of the long strong foundation that has become of these websites the regulars are able to smell those faceless idiots a mile away and root out the problem before it becomes a problem. i look forward to building that same foundation with the other members of this site.
p.s.
how is it going wyomingtrophyhunter
All is well here in beautiful downtown Arkinsaw !! Thanks for asking. I presume things are going good for you too ?
Getting ready to wrap up the whitetail season. So far no luck but I ain't been trying very hard. Weather is cold (20's) and business is good. No complaints here.....
Hope everyone out there has a happy holiday season and that you all got a good buck this year. Heck, just the hunt (buck or no buck) is what it is all about.
Merry Christmas :)
Nice to meet you as well. Hope your hunting was good, I am in SE Wyoming and the hunting was great. We good a couple good shots of snow this year and 1 during mule deer season. That makes for great hunting. I have been out chasing lions, it is snowing right now, so I will probably head out again tomorrow. Yes, you are correct, there is no perfect answer. I belonged to monstermuleys forum and just got sick of it. It wasn't never directd to me, but man it just got old. I have a passion for the outdoors and a respect for the hunter. Makes no difference to me if your an antler hunter or a meat hunter you are alright in my book. We have enough outside parties attacking our lifestyle to tear it apart between ourselves. Look forward to talking to you again, I am posting some of my animals on here soon. Take a peek it you like.

southeast wyoming you say, laramie! i went to school at the university of wyoming for three years, it was awhile ago, about four or five years ago, i since transfered to a school in colorado and then back to wyoming after i graduated. i am now working for a architecture firm in jackson hole wyoming. i sure miss my days at the u of wyo. i actually am possibly planning to come back to school in a year or so to further my education. anyways, that is the exact reason i left monstermuleys, i love that site but the crap just got too deep over there and i like the regulars around here alot more, alot better folks around here, i still visit that website now and again. i have always wanted to hunt lions, are you doing so around laramie or are you traveling somewhere else. are you going to school or just a resident of laramie making a living. i still have many friends that live in laramie, and in fact the 24th of december my buddy and i are coming down there to meet up with some other friends and my little sisters to go snowboarding up at the range. both my little sisters still go to school there. i agree with you 100%, i can't seem to understand why people would bash other people about something that they are obviously proud of, just doesn't make sense to me.
wyomingtrophyhunter,
all is well here, hunting season is over, at least big game, so now all i have is coyote hunting and the long wait until spring bear season. possibly some bird hunting. traveling back home for the holiday season, looking forward to seeing my entire family this year for christmas. just bought myself some brand new brunton eterna binos for my christmas present to myself, and a new zoom lens for my camera, now i will be able to take some sweet animal pictures, looking forward to that. wish you and yours a safe and merry christmas and new year.
Hey, those Brunton Eternas are the stuff. We all bought the 12x variety last year at the factory in Riverton. I had a slight problem (my fault) with mine this year and on our way thru Riverton to the "honey hole" by Thermop, I stopped in and they gave me a brand new pair....no questions asked !! That is good customer service by good Wyoming folks. Any of you guys looking for 1st class glass ought to give the Brunton line a look. They cost a bit more than say the Leupold Wind River (good name) line, but they are the equals of the Leica line at a great savings. Brunton is a good, old (100+ years) American company, although most of their optics are made in Japan. Located in beautiful, downtown Riverton, they will sell you direct from the store.
Whew ! I'd better quit. I was starting to sound like some two-bit huckster............ #-o
We have a filtering system in place, just a trial run for now to see how it works. Let me know what you guys think, or if you encounter problems.
Thanks a bunch for the support.
We don't have much use for binocs here in Arkinsaw because of the woods and thickets we hunt in. Anyone going out west, however, better have some good, high-powered glass. I learned that the hard way years ago when I tried to use some little Tasco miniature binoculars on my first mule deer hunt. Dang near went blind and couldn't see anything through them anyway. In my experience, the better the glass, the better chances you have of getting on a big buck. Even with cheap binocs you can see the deer's body......to be able to closely examine the rack's mass and points is the difference in stalking a mediocre buck or taking a real hound.
Same goes for riflescopes. I used to say that I would never pay more for a scope than I did for the gun it goes on. I changed my ways, again after my first hunt out west. Like one of the scope manufacturers says in their ads, "Only a rich man can afford a cheap scope".
Think I'll get out of here and take my musket to the woods. We have a three day M/L season that starts tomorrow and I feel the need to fling some .50 cal. buffalo bullets !! :2
I work in a sporting goods store in So Utah and was wondering how you Really think Brunton compairs to the "top of the line" Swarovski, Lica or, Zeiss?? We carry some brunton goods (pack stoves and compass') but when the rep. came in he showed me their top of the line and had me compair. I thought the glass was top notch, yet it still didn't compair to the Big Dogs, and thats side by side. The clairity was there, but like earlier stated, eye strain is a big deal. I spent 15 minutes looking through the Swarovski EL 8X32's and the Brunton Epoch 8.5X43's. Honestly, no difference at first, but there was obvious eye strain on the Brunton's. I will tell you one thing, Brunton has one of the best warrntee's out there on the market as explained to me by the rep. I have heard some great things about them and hope to see them in our store someday! I will agree, Brunton does make an awesome product!
to be honest with you i have only had the opportunity to look through one pair of swaro's and the glass is very good, however the only complaint i would have is that the eye pieces seem to be giving the hunter some trouble, my dads hunting buddy just got a pair this past season and i was checking them out and he said the glasses were only two months old and the rubber protective piece around the eye pieces had come off and getting them repaired by swaro was like pulling teeth he said. not that there service is bad by any means, it is just that brunton is so local to us and the service there is top notch. so i say this, for the money you will spend on a pair of brunton eternas for the mid line glasss is second to none. that is my opinion and with my limited experience with the swaro's i would have to say i like the eternas better. i am not totally sure if swaro even makes a more midline glass. they are definetly the best of the best though.
Seriously, for the money, most of the Brunton optics line is about as good as you can do...within that price range. No doubt the $2000 Leicas are great. I can, however, suffer a little eye strain for the difference, albeit I have not noticed that problem with the Bruntons. I guess at my age, my vision is not so acute that I would even know better from best.
MULEYMAN is right about Brunton being a local favorite in Wyoming. And the service, as I said before, is primo. And the factory is handy on my way thru Riverton up to the honey hole in Thermop where that legendary 48" Louie Grande still lurks in some hidden canyon.................
Gee, Santa, can I have permit for Region M......Pleeeeze [-o<
Ha, Ha! Funny you mention it, but my brother had trouble with his eye peices two months into having his new Swarovskis! I spent the extra money and got the rubber eye shields that dont adjust for eye-glass wearer, the shields cover the "side light" coming from the little space inbetween your eyes and the standard bino eye-peices. Well worth it and they've kept up with my abuse so far! I might have to check into these Brunton's though! There is nothing like a good old American product with customer service/warantee that is second to none! Another thing I can say about the swarovskis is that long glassing periods result in sore eyesockets. The pressure of pushing the bino's to your eyesockets isn't pleasent. This can be fixed though, remember the soft rubber eye-shields on other binos??? The rubber on the newer models is thin and a lot of these models dont have anything to stop sore eye sockets.
The Brunton line is generally not carried by your local dealer, at least in my experience, except in the central western states. You can go on line to the many optics vendors and find them simply by searching for "Brunton". Prices vary among vendors but some good buys are out there if you shop carefully.
I hope everyone has a great Christmas and a prosperous New Year. We all have many things to be thankful for. This venue and the friends we have here are among them all. I appreciate you guys and your contributions to my sorely needed hunting skills !! :thumb
Best regards,
