Pics of WA bighorns

Here's a couple pics I took of some California Bighorns just a few miles from my house (Asotin Creek) in Washington. Just learnin' to use this darn scanner so the quality ain't the greatest.

AGCHAWK, Thanks for the photos, have you ever drawn a tag for WA sheep?

Hiker, I've tried for quite a while...with no such luck. It's a "once-in-a-lifetime" draw and I'll keep puttin' in until I get lucky or I can no longer hunt...whichever comes first.

Unfortunately you cannot hunt the sheep in the Asotin Creek area, regardless of whether or not you draw. Too bad too because it's less than 20 miles from my place and there are some BIG rams in those heards. The closest huntable sheep area to my hometown is the Wenaha sheep area to the west.

I would think that sooner or later these heards and the ones just up the Snake river from here would open up as a viable draw choice because they are on public land (Mostly. There is also a lot of private land in the Asotin Creek area that the sheep cross through/reside in also) and there are a LOT of them. I can't go Mulie hunting or Steelhead fishing in these two areas without seeing sheep.

AGCHAWK, Yes that would be great for you to draw a tag to hunt WA Sheep and who knows maybe they'll open that area up before you draw your tag. My wife, daughter and I are trying to draw sheep and goats here in Colorado.

Man, I hope so!

I also put in for the WA Goat tag but again, not successful as of yet.

AGC kind of hard to draw when there are like 15 tags and 5000 applicants...
I am 30, and i will never draw that tag...

This will be my 40th try for a bighorn tag here in Oregon, I should get a senior discount on the application fee! :))

I know where they are, just need a tag.

Two guys I hunt with both drew in '95, one on his second try, one on his sixth. And I'm still trying, where's the justice in that? (???)

Nice looking Rams. Does Oregon have a preference point or bonus point system? If PP, do you have 40PP's?

I agree where is the point system? 40th try is a lot. You get my vote for a tag! Best of luck, and nice pictures!

No preference point system for sheep or goats in Oregon! Every year I read about someone getting their tag on the first try. But hey, all I can do is keep trying. [-o< [-o< [-o< [-o<
