Pictures needed for school report (please)

So i've finished all of my huge assignment called my "senior project" for high school.. but now, the final step, we gotta make a big poster with all the information and pictures pertaining to my field of work must be provided. Well bein as most the teachers at my school (and a fair amount of students) are against hunting my stupid self went and titled my report that I am going to be a "Wildlife Conservationist" .. :thumb ..My teacher, who's already not so fond of me for reading fur-fish-game or muley crazy magazines for my silent reading at the beginning of class, loved that title. #-o

So my report is all about becoming a hunting guide in the western U.S. (specifically focused on Utah and Nevada) And I have no clue what to put up for my pictures, I don't want just a bunch of dead animals (although of course I will have one or two) but being as ill be presenting to hundreds of people who dont understand why on earth I hunt, I wanted more the approach of pictures showing friends out in the field having a good time or around the campfire.. maybe a couple nice scenery pictures and a few still shots of trophy animals (to show I DO in fact have respect for these creatures I hunt, and not just have a bunch of dead animals) .. Anything that anyone might have at all would be GREATLY appreciated and put to very well use - no copies of these pictures would be made by anyone else, simply printed out from my computer and thrown away after the presentation.

Also (and maybe more importantly) does anybody have any suggestions what so ever as to what I should say while presenting.. I just talk for about 10 minutes or so about the career... If not then what are some suggestions from some of you that may have encountered this situation, but when someone says out "so why do you like to kill stuff" as its most commonly boldly put at me, whats a helpful reply to this someone could give - I usually just ignore as I dont have an answer better than "I just grew up with it and fell in love" but uring this I cant ignore the question when it comes.. I need a direct answer.

anyways, thanks to any and all that can help! I hand in my first draft of the poster on monday the 18th then have til january for my final poster - anyone with any help thanks a ton! Any outfitter logos or somethin could even work too and would probably be good to have at least one of.

well....just tell them that you need the meat to feed yourself and maybe try to get a point across. it seems that less people trip out over eating a hamburger from mcdonalds its kinda like that except you buy a whole bunch of hamburgers or not because im not even sure what i just said.lol

Like you said its not all about the killling. Tell them it's alot more about being outside with friends and family.

Sorry no pics.

I tried to reply once, don't know what happened.

Great job to choose this topic. The reasons we all hunt are: enjoyment of the outdoors and the truly wild places where almost no humans go except for hunters, camaraderie, wildlife management according to the plans of real wildlife biologists rather than by the wishes of wildlife ignorant, and the enjoyment of quality wild meat.

Find information on the Pittman-Robertson act. This act placed a tax on guns, ammo, and hunting gear that together with our hunting license fees funds virtually 100% of US-wide wildlife management. It has also paid for the recovery of wildlife that was decimated by unregulated hunting in the late 1800s and early 1900s.

My suggestion for pictures is to send an email to shon@eastmans.com and john@huntinfool.com. The Huntin Fool and Eastmans.com deliver the best free-range hunting magazines in the world. All stories and pictures are submitted by hunting subscribers. Tell these guys what your project is and I think they will be able to provide you with excellent pictures of hunters enjoying the outdoors.

You can feel free to copy any of mine. I read a good artical in this months issue of Hunting Illustrated about how a guide feels richer than any of his clients because of the experieces he has while guiding. He claimed to make about 30 k a year.

get some quotes from Ted Nugent.... maybe stay away from the smart ass ones.
but he really does have a majic with words. check out his website or one of his many books.

"if there's enough food for 200 deer and there's 300 deer trying to eat, they will all starve. but buy HARVESTING 100 we can save the herd and keep them healthy"

also, this is one of my main reasons:
"there are no growth hormones or antibiotics in the animals we harvest, it's pure and natural and intended to us by God himself"

I dont think any of us like to kill, or watch animals die. But I know it's right to harvest and cull God's creatures for our own uses.

Out here at Grantsville High you'd have no problem, but I see your dilema. Just remember you're representing all of us and we are all behind you 100%

hey guys I sure appreciate all the replys and suggestions. Chet, I'm gonna be lookin into that as soon as I get home from work (store isn't too crowded right now so figured I'd jump on here for a minute, been here all day and need to remember why I enjoy my life :thumb (no, i dont enjoy it because of the internet - its the hunting, and this is the closest i got to hunting right now). So thanks for the suggestion chet - still steam - I've heard about the pittman and robertson act in the past but hadnt remembered to think about it for a while and had not even talked about it in my report. Thanks for the suggestion and ill be looking it up! - everyone else, thanks for the support and ideas - hopefully all goes well and if nothing else I dont turn anyone further away from hunting. I've accualy found through just reading magazines in class and stuff (and giving book reports on hunting books several times) 1 or 2 people a year will ask a little more about hunting rather than just turn their nose at me for it and once they hear what its really all about and not what its been made up to be their begging me to take them with me sometime, haha. so anyways, hopefully the presentation goes alright - thanks again to all

oh - and pictures would still be great if someone could show me one or two that really capture why people hunt!

Take a look at the story I wrote under the elk hunting forum. Hunting is about a lot more than one can put down in a short story. This year, for me and my brother, it was about repaying our dad for introducing us to hunting many years ago. Hunting goes way beyond taking an animal. There as many reasons to go hunting as there are people you ask why they hunt. Feel free to use any pictures I have posted. I would suggest any pictures you use show the hunter with a BIG smile on their face and posing the animal in a very respectful way. As a bonus, pictures with kids tend to go a long way. Good luck with your report and let us know how it goes.

Most guys work all year to spend a week in the field hunting. Guides get to spend all year in the field. We get PAID to hunt and fish for a living. We get more hunting experience in one season than most guys get in 5 years. We get to hunt with guys from coast to coast and all over the world for that matter. A lot of these hunters bring something new to the table each and every hunt. We never live the same day twice, guides are the original "hardcore" hunters, and.... As you pause on a high mountain pass, look back and admire the racks lashed atop your pack string, your only regret will probably be that you waited so long to become a guide. :thumb

Wouldn't you agree killerbee and rileyhunter?? :1

The salesman told me they get the least amount of snow in grantsville, compared to the rest of the valley. That had me sold. We got about 8-10 in western west jordan.
