The HUGE town of Beryl huh? Sweet, I've been there a few different times on deliveries for a company I use to work for and of course passed by several times.

Glad to have you aboard!

Best advice I can give you is get a map showing all the units, see how much public land is in each unit, then look to see what hunter success rates are. Oh, and scout, scout, scout. With that said, unit 65 is a pretty good archery hunt, though the going can be tough. Lots of elk and lots of public land and I believe it is OTC for bulls.

Area 65 looks pretty nice with an average of 15% success for OTC elk.

Heck I might hunt there next year.

well , asking for good areas to hunt is a start . the next thing is to visit dow website and check out the data on different units . there is also a big game hunt data cd-rom which breaks down everything for you on all the units from male to female ratio , heard size , summer range and winter range , success rate , preference points , draw success , maps of the land and public to private land break down of the unit . if you are not going to put in for the draw , look at the big game book for over the counter tag units . if possible scout out the unit that you pick . one unit that i would like to hunt is 65 over on the western slope just east of montrose .
