Poacher Buck - Our MuleyMadness LOGO

AGCHAWK got me think about this a bit, so I wanted to share the story of our main logo here at MuleyMadness with you guys...hope this makes since and you can appreciate it.

Our main 'LOGO' here on MuleyMadness is from a poached buck.

I wanted to use this buck for several reasons...

1. One of the main reasons is he was poached. :nono:
Felt he deserved some honor and credit to help promote ethical hunting and good mule deer habitat for the future. :)

2. Another reason...is he lived on my favorite deer unit.

3. Also the fact that he was "PIG" with a huge split dropper. (I love droppers)

4. Plus a photographer got a great picture of him shortly before he was poached.

He is also the inspiration behind our Main decal logo, business cards, and
3' x 8' upcoming banner...

Here he is...

That's cool Brett! Great way to honor that big buck!

Coincidently, check out the additional comments on the thread I started regarding the latest poacher busted that started our conversation (Rifle forum). I inadvertantly took a photo of a buck credited to the fella in the poaching article. I didn't notice his name on the plaque yesterday while at the Expo but it caught my eye when I was downloading the pics this morning to share with everyone here.
I also got my hands on the video mentioned in the article but decided not to post it. In the same mindset as your honoring of the "logo buck" I thought it would be disrespectful to the animal in question to share his illegal demise again and again and again.

That really is a good way to honor a buck like that.

I remember when that buck was killed and the story behind it too. I also have a picture of it standing out in the sagebrush. Another buck of a life time taken from all of us. How many people think that buck would go 40" wide?

Is your picture the same as this one? If not I'd like to see it.

great buck for sure but 40" wide, i'm not so sure about that, it is a shame that that buck was taken by such a selfish person never to get the credit the buck derserved. but great job brett for showing that buck off, it make a great logo!!

Well, guess I learn something new every day! Brett, as a side note, do I have to reregister to purchase something out of the store or use my current name and password? Been meaning to get a decal lately but just haven't gotten around to it.

YES, you have to register for the store also. You can use the same password username but have to re-register there also.

I have mixed emotions when it comes to "poaching". I don't see any harm in harvesting an animal if it is needed for survival purposes, but you know that he was killed for that amazing rack, I hope the guy got some serious punishment.

Eastern NM hunter, killing a big buck for survival really isn't applicable nowadays in my opinion. I could accept it if you were lost in the backcountry for days on end with no provisions and no real chance of being rescued before your food stores ran out. In that case you would be taking the first edible animal you came across and certainly wouldn't be keeping the rack to hang on your wall and brag to your buddies. I'm also sure that you wouldn't be charged if that occured.
However, I can't think of any other reason why anyone would brazenly ignore hunting rules and regulations and kill. I agree with ya 100% though....this buck was NOT killed for survival. He was killed for his rack and nothing more.

Believe me, killing a buck out of season is poaching. That buck was poached. Now on the flip side harvesting a doe for survival purposes in my opinion is understandable. I pray that I never find myself in that position, but I did, I would have no reservations in taking a doe out of season...................

Way to go Brett....way to honor a great buck!

killerbee, your right. That buck is not 40" wide but close. They taped it out at 39". The thing must have 26" ears. Which is typical in that unit.
