GREEN RIVER, Wyo. The Wyoming Game and Fish Department says a trophy bull elk was poached and left to rot near Pilot Butte in the Red Desert.
Hunters found the carcass about 100 feet off a dirt road.
Game warden Duane Kerr says vehicle tracks were found near the carcass. But there's been no other evidence, and Kerr says finding the poacher will be nearly impossible.
A rash of poaching in southwest Wyoming this year included the shooting of at least seven antelope northwest of Granger in June.

The guilty party knows who they are and eventually the law will. Look at the Colorado case that was solved years later using DNA. Someone out there will talk.
